If you Jimmer it, they will come.
I don't think 90% of the people here think it is a single. He's a very good hire and with some good assistants can only be that much better. I'm just saying what coach that we could have hired would have been a homerun? I don't see 1 single guy we could have gotten who is a clear homerun.
It's time for him to go. This team is so not prepared. Do they even practice defense? Dont even get me started on invisible jrue holiday. Doing nothing out there and no even trying to be a leader.
Worth it for the McNamara take on how Gentry was more important than Kerr to GS' success.
Damn, but let's hear it for my computer that still remembers my login info!
5 years later and I realized two things after reading this thread
1) We should have listened to the “hire Mike Malone” crowd
2) Amin Elhassan knows less about basketball than my mailman
Let's face it some guys are just coordinators. Gentry is not a head coach. Which is why I don't like the retread hires. I rather hire some young assistant that just hasn't been given a chance as opposed to a guy that's been given fair shots and have just failed to succeed. There was nothing about Gentry resume as a head coach that said he should have been hired.
Whenever Gentry is fired, I really hope we hold on to Vinson.
I too want to keep Vinson, the impact he has had on player development has been great, and that is something to be rewarded for, not terminated for.
Gentry is the Norv Turner of NBA coaches. He has a great offensive system, but he isn’t the guy you want calling the shots.
On to the next coach.
