I agree he shouldn't be posting up and I partially blame that on Monty, but that wasn't even the major problem last night. He was flat out shooting bricks and playing horrific defense and it had nothing to do with the post ups. Sure, his shot may be rusty but he's been back for quite a while now and that excuse is wearing thin (not saying from you, but just in general). Also, rust has nothing to do with his defense and that has been very poor as well. I really want the guy to help our team, but when night-in-night-out he is helping the other team more than us, I am just losing my patience for the guy. I noticed that Asik really helped our rebounding last night and the comeback when we were down nine in the fourth occurred when he was on the floor. I think he should be getting many more minutes than Ryno, regardless of whether the court is spread or not.
I don't think it is a rust issue. I think he is out of shape and his legs are dead, and the legs are key to shooting and defense.

I promise you, we will read stories about how Ryno lost 15 pounds and is in the best shape of his life this summer. If he still stinks after that, then I will be on board with dumping him for nothing, but I would bet that if/when he gets back in shape he will be the same guy again

Ok, I can see that. I will give him like 10-15 games next year to prove he's back, but if he continues to stink during that span, he's gone. For THIS series, though, he should be getting less than ten minutes a game with the way he's playing, and even that's pushing it...

Give him 10-15 games next season to prove himself (and he doesn't) you might as we be peddling Enron stock. That would come back to bite you for the rest of the year, and then the masses are questioning why you kept Ryno, like they question why did we trade for Asik. I'm not saying it's right, but if that bet comes back snake eyes, your only asset with Ryno is that he is an expiring, and expiring contracts aren't fetching what they used to.

But if he come back healthy, he will expect a nice long contract.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

His value can't get lower. At worst, he is an expiring during the season next year that can be moved. I can't see the upside in moving him this summer unless Gordon opts out and you have the opportunity to sign a big FA and you can dump Ryno's contract for more room. But if Gordon opts in, you won't have cap room even if you dump Anderson, so I just can't see the benefit of giving him away this summer. It's the ultimate sell low scenario with little to no upside.

I look at Jared Dudley, who the Clippers gave up an asset to get rid of. He gets right over the summer and is a positive asset the next year and the Clips look like idiots for that trade. I don't want to do the same with Ryno. Get him right and either reincorporate him or sell higher during the season

I don't even know what kind of market Ryno currently has ATM. Think about it. His contract is more than what contenders can afford. His play is so bad that an up and coming team (such as our own) would find it hard to justify bringing him in if somebody in their similar position is looking to move on from him. It really isn't a free flowing market as some might think.

Exactly. So all this talk about moving him is a moot point IMO. The only option I see is to get him right and reestablish his value.

The most overused words on Pelicansreport.com. Wrongly, I might add.

ELITE - (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.

GREAT - notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding

These words should not be used lightly

My issue with Ryno's norm is the perspective. From my perspective, he's had one really good year and the rest have been average IMO (nothing to write home about). So when we're talking Ryno's norm, for me, that's an average player. He's awful this year but his norm IMO is only a level or two better than this. Why are we so sure that the 19 a game Ryno is the norm and not the 13 and 6 Ryno? I'm not even so sure about the 6 rebs but that is his career average.

I can see how trying to trade Ryno partially through the last year of an expiring contract could not be good, so I propose we send him to Summer League, see how his shot/defense is there in competitive games with young guns who might be quicker than him, and use that to determine whether or not he stays or goes. Just an idea...

You love the player but we don't need him to win at the highest level. I'd pay Gordon a 3 year 23 mil contract over Anderson. Why? He helps us in multiple ways in ways RYNO doesn't. gordon is an elite 3 point shooter. Hes a playmaker who is a better facilitator than most guards on this team and even most SG in this league. He's got very high basketball iq. He's better at defense than Ryno though that's not saying much.

I agree with you MM. Ryno will perform better once he's fully in top form and health. I love his shooting, his offensive rebounding, and how he can destroy teams when they're down. But, there's been a very consistent trend of him trying to post up and do fade away turnaround jumpers. He's not Dirk but he plays like he thinks he has to be. Being out of shape doesn't make you stop passing the ball. I doubt teammates are happy with his tendency.

IMO we need rebounders and very aggressive offense attack attack attack. GSW gets rebounds, gets the turnovers, and the score lightning fast. There's no simple formula.

ASIK played a great game despite what people are saying. We need him and we need him to be really physical with Bogut, Green And Speights. Green really hurts us with his matchup he presents. Tell me MM, what do you do to stop Green from causing so many problems? I know we really can't stop curry or even Thompson. But can we stop green from hurting us in every way. It doesn't seem rational but I'd put asik or AJINCA on green and move AD ON Bogut. Throw Cunningham on a guard.... Why not give douglas a chance? He's a great defender. Put him on Klay. I feel like the key is to strengthen our biggest weakness. I said it earlier and people corrected me but our turnovers are killing us. Correct turnovers, get more rebounds, improve transition defense, play more aggressive and get AD points early and overwhelm them physically. What are your thoughts??

“We need him,” New Orleans head coach Monty Williams said.

Anderson went 1-for-5 from the field in the second quarter Monday night, and Williams didn’t go back to the team’s fourth-leading scorer (13.7 points per game).

“My role is to be the offensive spark off the bench,” Anderson said. “I can spread the floor for other guys. (The Warriors’) game plan every time we’ve played them has been to take me out of the game, which opens it up for my teammates.”

If true, that’s not a bad strategy by Steve Kerr and his staff. New Orleans is 19-7 this season when Anderson scores more than 15 points.

“They do a good job of taking stretch '4s’ out,” Williams said, “because they have Draymond (Green) and Harrison (Barnes) and Andre (Iguodala). All three of them can play the '3’ and '4.’”

    'Be ready to go’

The pace in Game 2 also might have gotten too fast for Anderson, but Williams knows that Anthony Davis needs some offensive help Thursday in Game 3.

“Ryan hasn’t shot the ball well this series, but that doesn’t mean he won’t play the next game,” Williams said. “He’s got to be ready to go out there and do what he does.”

You haven't learned. Next bad game from Ryno and it's the same thing with these people.

1 good game 3 games into a series, and suddenly this thread had no business being created, or has merit in still being discussed?

In the stock market this is called a dead cat bounce. Look it up.

LOL and you purport yourself to be some sort of NBA "expert". Seriously - a guy who is a shooter and absolutely NOTHING else has one single, solitary good shooting game in 3 months and you act like he's totally redeemed himself. Get some context, bro.
