The most overused words on Pelicansreport.com. Wrongly, I might add.

ELITE - (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.

GREAT - notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding

These words should not be used lightly

True, but you never know what Monty actually called in the huddle.

Either way, I'm more impressed with this team after tonight then the Orlando game. There are some huge issues, but I see the potential.

If only we'd give up on hard hedging the PnR. It drives me insane.

The explosive, lean, mohawed EG lost the damn game against the dreaded Mavs.

    109 to 104.

Just think, had our starting 2 scored just 6 points, we would have won tonight. But Gordon couldn't get even 1. Could Jimmer have done better? We'll never know, but it's really hard to say he could do worse than 0 points.
Given his play after the last game, asking for 3 might have been to much. But like you said, who knows, what he gives up on defense wouldn't have been any more than we were giving up already.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

That is just crazy. I don't care who you are, you shouldn't play 30+ min and post almost all 0s across the board except fouls.

Dallas was switching everything. And I don't think there was enough time for a set play for a 3. Reke had the hot hand and is really the only guy who can always get a shot off.

It's game 2 and that's a legit playoff team. Not to name call, but the overreaction is really foolish.

    Message to Monty:
Bench Eric Gordon and we can win us some games.

He was a defensive liability tonight

I think Monty and the son of a coaching friend are mainly to blame.

offensive fouls lost this game. whether some should have been blocking fouls or not is a different story. but that was the big momentum changer

  13. #388
We also got nothing from our bench. Per usual. It's embarrassing. Rivers and Jimmer were no shows once more. I expect that to be a regular thing. The things we can do with EJ's salary once he's off the books...

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

#1 Which Pelican played defense tonight?
#2 Given Gordon's play tonight, will Monty bench him next game? I doubt it.

I have actually defended Williams in the past but he appears to be regressing. He just looks like a deer in the headlights. He knows that he now has enough talent and thus under more pressure to win. He is crumbling under the weight of the expectations. I don't expect him to be coaching this team next season.

What about giving some credit to Dallas? They are a FAR more experienced team after all.

It's just hard to say we gave our best shot when our most expensive player gave us a 0-1-1-0-0 and 2 fouls in 34 minutes.

Jimmer, is a shooter and for 4 minutes he never had a play run for him. THAT is bad coaching. You have to see what you get game to game. He was rubbing his socks getting warmed up and he had to leave the game. Too funny. I am ambling over to the group that says the guy isn't treated fairly.

Hopefully you'll leave as fast as they will too.

I doubt Monty will bench Gordon. Jimmer went 0-6 last game and still saw a few minuets tonight. Besides, I believe Monty still thinks he can get something out of Puddin. Those guys will suffer the same fate.

We lost to a better team.

  23. #398
You realize that benching your starting 2 guard 2 games into the season is absurd right?

Don't be silly, no he didn't. We are a team that as a whole is still struggling to find cohesion on both sides of the ball, find our optimal roles when on the floor with certain lineups, and optimize our lineups and minutes.

Far too much selfish plays that resulted in turnovers. Evans great run means nothing when he takes numerous bad shots in the closing minutes and ignores other guys with better looks. He tried to be Kobe and he isn't Kobe. Ryno needs to be smarter with the shots he takes. Far too many bad contested twos. Salmons is a waste of minutes and gave up a couple points and provided nothing on offense. Rivers is continuing to struggle on both offense and defense. Frankly there was NO reason why Rivers should of been the sole ball handler when the lineup was Rivers, Gordon, Ryno, Davis and Asik and he kept screwing up. That is the perfect time when you give Gordon the ball and let him go to work and try and get him involved after a rough start.

    QFT.

I'm sorry, but taking Jimmer out after 3:39, and leaving Gordon in for 34 minutes is the epitome of dumb coaching.
