My current depth chart:
C: Asik, Ajinca, Withey
PF: AD, Ryno, Young
SF: Reke, Miller, Babbitt
SG: Gordon, Salmons, Jimmer
PG: Jrue, Rivers, Russ
I think Salmons will play more 3 than 2, but I see him more as a 2 so that were I line him up at in a depth chart unless he's starting.
But I would like to see a second unit of either Ajinca, Ryno, Salmons, Fredette, & Rivers or Ajinca, Ryno, Salmons, Rivers, & Russ. I also wouldn't mind seeing Young as well, but I see him more 4 than 5 at least early on. But more than likely Darius Miller or Luke Babbitt will play the 3 with a Rivers & Salmons backcourt just to mess with me.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."
PG: Holiday, Rivers, Smith*
SG: Gordon, Evans, Fredette
SF: Salmons, Babbitt, Miller
PF: Davis, Anderson, Young*

Really not even close if we are being honest.
I don't think Young should go to d-league. I mean after-all the d stands for development right? I don't think Young has that much to develop. There are always things he needs to learn, but his ceiling is not that high. It's because what he brings to a team is something that's needed. Just don't see the benefit of sending him down there.
Russ I'll admit I'd be a little disappointed if we sent him down. It might benefit him (a little) but I'd rather him sit on the bench and get some PT when there are injuries. I mean if we wouldn't send down Rivers to the d-league his rookie year, I seriously doubt we would send down Russ either. Keep in mind, how many players in Demps/Williams' tenure have they sent to the dleague. 1? 2? All I can think of off the top of my head is Pierre and I believe Dairus for a very short time. I think they believe in those guys being on the roster around their teammates.
The lineup. I don't think we'll send anyone to the d league.
Just so people know, you are allowed 13 active players.

Asik/Ajinca/Withey/Young
When you look at it this way the Jimmer signing makes a lot of sense. I don't think the team wanted Russ getting a ton of minutes from the start.
I know a lot of people want nice pretty 3 deep stacks at each position, and you can make players play at other positions but I think this is the true line-up. Let's see if training camp and pre-season changes things.
Oh, I could also see Withey and Young being the two inactive.

My guess at active 13
1 AD
2 Ryno
3 Jrue
4 Asik
5 Tyreke
6 Gordon
7 Russ
8 Withey
9 Ajinca
10 Rivers
11 Babbitt
12 Miller
13 Jimmer
----------
14 Young
15 Salmons
He might play more than he should, Monty could give him too many minutes, but the other players are younger and know Monty's system and Salmons best days are behind him. Salmons was .399, .350, and .368 FG% last 3 seasons, interestingly, he shot better from 3 the last two seasons. (.371, .381, and .388) then his overall FG%. So Salmons should only be taking 3's and not trying to create at all if he does play. I'd rather Darius Miller see the court, he is an above average defender. I wouldn't be surprised if Jimmer was inactive and Salmons was active, depending on what Monty is looking for. I would prefer Jimmer to play in situations where the team needs a 3, or to drain free throws. I think both are more insurance than anything at this point, but Jimmer could improve where he needs to and be a factor. Will be interesting to find out who gets the final spots on the active list.

Would not like that decision because both are better than Salmons already and are improving. Salmons is going the opposite direction and this will be his last year on the Pelicans, I predict. So it doesn't seem like a good move long term to give Salmons minutes for one season when he's about equal to some other players who are still improving. Maybe Salmons was brought in for more of a veteran presence and extra coach in the locker room.
