Awesome. I really like Babbitt coming in to play Ryno when he's out. I really think that guy can be just a solid 3pt shooting stretch 4. Play like 10 minutes a game or so.

I just really can't understand why people are all over Marion right now. I just think we need more offense, preferably shooting from the SF spot now w/ the paint safe and sound w/ AD/Asik.

I'd rather someone like Hamilton than Marion. But I can see the leadership aspect and "been there done that' playoff mentality of The Matrix.

    A couple questions...

First, do you think Casspi will start or SF that we get. Second, who's inactive if everyone is healthy... Russ, Patric, or maybe Babbitt? I believe we'd have to make 2 of the 14 inactive, correct?

I think Russ, Babbitt, Ajinca/Young have to be interchangeable on that list.

Plus if we give another D-League guy a shot. You'd have to think that with our guard plethora they'll sit one and then one of the bigs.

Dell worked magic this summer. Hats off.
Only if I could have shipped out Rivers and kept Morrow. [We will never know what Morrow wanted.] Either way, pending the SF we sign via the Room MLE, this looks like a grade A off season.

Is Jason Smith gone, too? If so, we are losing our top three veteran leaders: Morrow, Roberts, and J. Smith.

Marion shot better from the 3 (35.8%) than Hamilton (35.4%) and Casspi (34.7%). He's also a MUCH better defender.

We can have 13 active+2 inactive.

Check out where Marions 3s are coming from too.
We have guys who can hit threes from the wings. We need corner threes.

Can't think of Marion as a 3pt shooter, dude made less than 1 per game last season.

Frenchy should have a spot IMO. Withey woud be the inactive big
The most overused words on Pelicansreport.com. Wrongly, I might add.

ELITE - (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.

GREAT - notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding

These words should not be used lightly

I just want to see the press conference where Mr. Demps says those beautiful words "Yesterday, we acquired Center Omer Asik from the Houston Rockets."

    That'll make me happy.

any idea what the first round protection is on the pick?

I don't think we need a deadly 3 point shooter there that will launch them at every chance, but rather a guy that can hit it if left open and keep the floor spread for our top scorers. Marion fits that role perfectly and brings great defense and leadership as well.

I agree I like Marion for this team.

now if we had lebron, we'd be a title contender.

i am predicting a ryno for a legit SF trade. Casspi and Asik are his replacements. I still think there's a major Ryno/EG trade in the books before mid season.

So theoretically next offseason we could let Asik walk and his 8.5 mill, use that money for a legit SF AND offer deandre Jordan max contract with EG gone? If so sign me up now.

Why max Deandre Jordan. Guy is a black hole on offense. Great rebounder. Overrated defender. Low basketball IQ. He's a product of CP3 and Doc Rivers. Take him off that team and then what? I'd take Asik over him without blinking.
"While everyone is watching the play-offs, keep in mind, Anthony Davis is off somewhere getting better."

Agree with this. With Jrue, Gordon, Evans, Anderson, and Davis, we don't need a guy who shoots a ton. We need a guy who can space the floor and be a threat to knock down a 3. Throw in his experience, defense, and rebounding and this team would go from one of the worst to one of the best in just 1 year.

No, everyone seems to forget that we're going to have to offer AD a max contract under the Derrick Rose rule as soon as EG is gone

First. AD hasn't qualified for the DR max yet. We don't know that he will, odds are he actually won't. But the other point is AD's contract doesn't kick in until the 2016-2017 season. Next offseason he will count for right at 7M against the cap.

I'm actually wondering if AD being named an All star versus being voted one changes. If it doesn't matter i'd say the odds are for him getting it.

Dealer Demps, what a guy. The way he's got it going we'll be able to underplay for players soon the way contenders do.
