I actually agree with him, better to keep EG for now and see what we can do in Feb or if he opts out. I have no doubts we could trade him but what comes back might be worse.

Do we really want to keep paying him just to "see this through"?
Nobody lacks self awareness more than Eric Gordon, and a 15-17 ppg scorer who shoots 40 percent from 3 will get paid, unless he misses significant time. All it takes is one GM.

Exactly. There is no need to have a mid level type contract sitting on your books when you could have that space plus EGs contract off the books. Dell has been gutsy, creative, and a bit of gambler when it came to building this team. Everything requires balance, with EG he needs to show patience.

Given his injury history if Eric Gordon plays another relatively healthy season any agent would tell him to opt out and get a long term contract. Eric Gordon won't be on our books next season.

    If:
    1) He stays healthy
    2) Has a decent season statistically &
    3) Team has success making it to the playoffs

I think if this happens it might be the better financial decision to take a possible 4yr. 36-40 million guaranteed contract given the uncertainty of his body holding up

I've waited this long, I guess I can wait a little longer. lol

I don't know why everyone is so mean about Eric Gordon, calm down the hate guys, let in the love.

He didn't give himself the contract or injure himself, people just like to be mean, hence why MM was driven away.

  9. #1584
MM supposedly got some dirt about him, besides everything that's already come out about him, I'm sure there will be more justification of why I don't like him.

I do not want him playing on my favorite team anymore. I do not hate Eric Gordon personally.

  11. #1586
There is nothing endearing about the guy, sorry.

Yeah, I'd qualify it for me as a healthy dislike.

With all due respect, MM, IMO, is the reason everyone hates him. MM's word around here is gospel. The more he disparaged Gordon, the more it spread around this forum. This is not a shot at MM. If he wrote an article about why Gordon is good for the Pels, people would all start talking about how to better utilize Gordon.
The most overused words on Pelicansreport.com. Wrongly, I might add.

ELITE - (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.

GREAT - notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding

These words should not be used lightly

Asik changes my whole opinion of him. And knowing that we are just 82 games away from possibly moving on makes me want to hug somone. Here's hoping he shoots 43 percent from three this year!

Seriously though, apart from the "Heart is in pheonix" line 3 years ago he hasn't said anything negative since. Yeah his body language may suck at times but it's not as if he has been a detriment to the locker room. Some people just act like children when it comes to him.

Why is it that important that some people don't like the guy? People have differing opinions and calling us children because of said opinions is pretty lame. He has never given me a reason to embrace the guy, sorry.

Now, If I had said I wish he'd get hurt or I wish terrible things to happen then yea, childish.

What's more childish? Openly acknowledging your feelings and being tolerant of people who feel otherwise, or trying to get other people to change or just be silent about said feelings?

I'm done with Eric Gordon. The Heart is in Phoenix line is a footnote, I agree. But it isn't because of his body language or a detriment to the locker room. Or even his health.

    It's all of the above.

That "heart is in phoenix" thing is pretty big. Begin to enumerate anything as stupid and possibly as similar, i will be waiting for your enlightening list.

And i don't really need someone else to tell me to dislike someone who makes our starting 5 worse, who is not a decent defender, who can't get a rebound, who acts like he doesn't care on the court more often than not, who has been injured most of the time anyway and who has done nothing of note to show the love for the city or the franchise that, may i remind you, is paying his lofty salary.

I want the guy OUT. MM showing with advanced data what people can get looking at him play is simply a good proof.

  21. #1596
I don't have to be tolerant of negative feelings directed at another person. It is not healthy to be so emotionally negative. If people just talked about his play that would be fine, but the personal attacks are a little much for me.

  22. #1597
I really want to know any endearing quality about the guy? I'm open minded and want to know

You act like we lose sleep over this. Outside of this massage board, I don't give it a second thought. But stay on your high horse, must be nice up there.

He's a man with a family just like any of us, he is obviously a very private guy so just because we don't know about his life doesn't make him some monster. And I never called out any particular poster, just addressing the way the discussion on him is handled.

  25. #1600
I really dislike Gordon and I can't wait for the day he is no longer on this team. But the fact is he can help us more than any free agent still left. Dump Gordon and sign Tucker or ariza I was all for it. Dump Gordon to sign a Marvin Williams? No thanks.
