In the Asik case Houston is dumping Asik salary. So I do not understand the fear...

I just can't wait until this thing is finally finished! That way everybody can get on with it.

Houston is getting a very minimally protected 1st rounder for a guy they do not use and want to unload for cap room. This one is not falling through.

And IF that is the case and Asik isn't coming our way, I suspect we would get out-bid for Monroe unless he really did want to come here on a home-town discount (and those never actually happen except in fanboy ESPN trade machine posts) - where would that leave us?
I know it's going to be quiet for a little longer, I'm just losing patience and would feel a whole lot better if another round of Gordon to the Wolves for Martin rumors would start up so we could speculate about the next shoe to drop...

and ps- didn't the 1st round of Martin rumors contain enough Gordon has more value than our fan bases thinks he has tidbits to lessen a little of the 'he's total garbage and we're stuck with him' posts? We know fanbases over-value their own players, but I think we go to the other extreme as well. The Wolves fans sounded like they hated Martin as much as most of ours hate Gordon and would welcome the switch. What does that tell us...
I promise you there are fan-bases that would embrace Gordon after they realize that all their cap-room isn't going to get them what they want

Wonder what is taking so long for this to go thru, I guess it has to be a 3 team deal? IDK...

Unless this deal was somehow mis-conveyed to us, Asik is for all intent and purposes a pelican.

Who else isn't or is is what's up for debate.
    Jrue dat

People need to remember this and realize that the closer to the 10th it gets, the greater the pressure on other teams to fill holes. Some of those teams with cap room are going to begin to understand that they aren't truly in the running for their big name targets. All of a sudden, a player that can score like Gordon becomes an attractive option for a team with over $20 million to spend and no one to spend it on that has real value. That team might think that a player like Gordon could add value to their team on the court and is on a short enough contract to make a deal for him palatable.

Contrary to the pessimistic approach, I am hopeful -- and a little expectant -- that Demps will clear Gordon's contract without having to lose other high value assets like Ryno or Rivers. I don't think that's the only deal he'll make and he may move one or both of them as well, but I think that by the time Thursday rolls around, many on here will be singing a more optimistic tune. Even if Demps doesn't end up making a deal to move Gordon, I think that when the dust settles on the offseason, the overall makeup of the roster will be better and more able to be taken seriously as a playoff contender.

You never know. Someone's plans to get LeBron will fall through...maybe Gordon will be taking his talons to South Beach.

There better be a red carpet.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

Ive actually seen fans discussing, and wanting Gordon for after this happens. I'll neglect to mention who cause it was just message boards

The contract for Asik is suppose to finalize June 15th so we have until then to make moves to get under the cap or get a third team involved or whatever else can happen. I hate all the waiting though.

I remember reading that and do not see how that makes a lot of sense (unless it is just cushion that was negotiated if needed). I would think Houston would want their cap cleared ASAP.

Probably coincides with when the league sets the salary cap but I'd bet neither team expected the free agent market to go this slow because of Melo and James.

The cap should be set on July 10.
