Well what about the 15 million he's owed in real money and the reverse protection on the pick and the team situations (we're still in the west) it all matters. Also I think gortat pick was full lotto protected. It's a worse deal than that one. I'd even say its a bad deal

That better not be the case. If that is the only protection, Dell got taken to the cleaners big time. The Rockets have to be happy they were able to shed his contract without having to give another team a 1st to take him.

Asik averaged 20 minutes per game and would've been second on our team in rebounding. That is all.

Regardless of what we think, this team didn't set the world on fire. For the better part of the year, they sucked. Without AD (injury), there's a more than good chance we are picking in the top ten. We cannot, under any circumstances throw away top ten picks. Plus, Asik is on a one year deal. If he plays, hates it here, and walks --- you may have just traded away a top ten pick for literally nothing. I don't mind taking the chance if it's the way Zach Lowe has it constructed. Good thing is Zach Lowe > ESPN.

Not to mention we are getting him cheaper than what he is worth, a top defensive center is worth more than 8 mil, this guy is just like noah.

Also im expecting, if healthy, for us to finish top 8, so we keep our pick, what a freaking steal by dell man! bravo!

Source confirms the Rockets will receive the first round pick from Pelicans next year if it is between 4-19. That's huge.

If that is true, Dell needs to be fired.

We are also division rivals, so they can't give us as good of a deal as the Wiz got trading out of conference. Can't look at the trade in a vacuum man.

If it makes you feel any better the negotiations started as Ryno and a first for him.

We are paying him $14.5 million. That is not "cheaper."

the contradiction on the protection is worrisome... I hope the 1s that say 4-19 is just a typo that's forgetting the 1 in front of 14

    People always want more smh.

This went from being Asik for Anderson to Asik for a draft pick that we shouldn't even need

  12. #162
Also to beat my per 36 drum, last year with houston he averaged 12 points, 14 rebs, 2 blocks per 36.

think he only counts 8.5 towards our salary.

If we give up a top 10 pick for Asik, we should clean house of both Dell and Monty next season.

  15. #165
If we have the 6th pick in the draft next year dell and Monty will be fired. So what's the point in asking for it if you are dell? Go big or go home

Is next years draft projected to be any good? Everyone is focusing on the pick. Is that draft deep or will it stink since this year is deep?

So, the $6 million does not matter? We basically swallowed Houston's poison pill and allowed them to clear space for a big FA run all while giving them a 1st rounder. I don't see anything cheap about that.

Since when don't teams need draft picks?

  23. #173
Asik, 2nd best rebounder in the NBA per rebounding rate, only 2nd to drummond.

  24. #174
Well there's clearly some confusion on the pick number. It's top 2/3 of the lottery, but I guess we need to find out if that means top two thirds, or #2 or 3 pick. Hopefully not the latter... but this wouldn't be the first time some reports had a misunderstanding on the compensation... they did afterall screw up the Jrue Holiday pick protection last year. They said top 3 protected. They also said the Pelicans would be getting the 76ers' pick in the following year.

But they HAD to get rid of him. Im not even close to looking at a trade in a vacuum. If you, nolaslim had proposed a deal like this you would have had us getting Montiejunas and two firsts! Meanwhile houstonslim came up with this deal.

Actually no Dell strong armed a little protection

    Edit: contains sarcasm
