Thread: 2014 Playoffs - Geaux CP3

The more I watch the Spurs, the more I believe that Davis/Anderson frontcourt will be very effective. we just need to surround them with shooters, and make Evans our main ball handler/attack guy

You also need Danny Green. Reke might be awesome, but Green is a whole different underrated animal.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

    I'll just leave this here:

Everyone is talking about the Big three reworking their deals to accommodate Melo but after this season I think Wade would be foolish to opt out. No way Miami comes close to offering him close to the 42 million he is guaranteed if he just opts in the next two seasons. What with such a poor showing in the most important games and being injured 28 games. Heck I'm not sure any intelligent organization would offer that much either.

I made this point to my buddy last night. If you're Wade, why would you opt out of potentially 40 million. I personally think he (and i would too) accept his extension and tell Lebron, whatever you do, I understand. This is Wade's life we're talking about and leaving probably 20-25 million on the table towards the back end of your career would be foolish. His legacy is set whether he doesn't win another one or if he wins 1 more (which i don't think happens in Mia).

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Agreed. I think this offseason is going to be pretty interesting for the Heat. I feel Lebron is gonna see the tape and once again get frustrated at Wade's injuries and now declining play/effort and it could make for some interesting drama.

I honestly think if Lebron really wants Melo him and Bosh are gonna have to be the ones to opt out and take a pay cut because I can't imagine why Wade would.

Kawhi was in foul trouble the 1st 2 games not sure if that is the same as disappearing, but I agree Duncan has to be up there as far as Finals MVP he's been steady all 4 games.

Sure. I know it was due to foul trouble but I don't see that as an excuse. Gotta keep yourself out of it. But, if he has a monster game on Sunday I can see the argument. Depends on Duncan too though. Next game will be exciting.

In fairness to Leonard, at least two of those fouls in game two were utterly bull**** calls. And you can't do anything about refs making bad calls on you.

True story. Leonard was put in a no success situation by the refs. Those fouls are not called in any other game, and he is fine. I will give you game 1 though, he was MIA in that one.

That's not an argument. So 2 calls were bad. He still put himself into the situation where bad calls take him out of the game. Other players had bad calls too. If the argument is for MVP of the finals you can't allow yourself to be taken out of the game due to bad calls.

Fair enough ticky tack calls happen, they just so happened to be during the finals (que la vie). He disappeared in two games but has emerged as the probable MVP of the series (should he follow the past two games with a similar performance).

Another guy who has had a monster series on the level of Diaw and Leonard has been Green. 11/2/2/1 against the mighty DWade and anyone else Miami throws at him.

It is an argument. Kawhi could do about as much about the refs throwing BS fouls on him as Lebron could about his cramps. It was out of their control.

Kawhi was called for a charge on what was clearly a blocking foul, one where he was actually fouled by another player before he even made contact with Lewis during his drive. Then he was getting called for just breathing on Lebron. Literally. Didn't even touch Lebron and was assessed a touch foul. Then there was the out of control Lebron travel in the fourth which led to Kawhi's sixth foul when he once again never touched him.

On the other end of that game the Heat were getting away with flops left and right and playing very physical on defense.

It all comes down to consistency. 3 of the 4 games the refs have been very even and carried the same tone of letting the players play physical, play tough and not bog them down with ticky tack fouls. Game 2 was the deviation from that and suddenly the way SA played defense against the Heat was getting foul calls on the most ticky tack infractions(and even non-infractions) in the second game and the refs were falling for flops and seeing too many phantom penalties.

...As for the first game though, Kawhi just played poorly.

LeBron has to be a lead by example guy. Cuz he doesn't inspire with his words, that's for sure.

I knew the Heat would come out in a flurry. Spurs withstood that and i think they'll take the game now they survived that.

Wonder why Coach Spo didn't play Beasley more. The regulars looked gased and defeated.

I guess KL is the Finals MVP?

Kawhi Leonard sure looked like a #1 option to me.

Hopefully if the Heat do lose to the Spurs maybe it'll discourage the current trend of superstars getting together to win rings because in the end, the Spurs are showing that chemistry, personnel, culture, good coaching, and good drafting can still get the job done. Kudos to Timmy D!

How so the Heat have two titles and 4 straight Finals appearances this union was a success.

While it was a success the Heat lacked some of the qualities that Spurs had that blowed the Heat out in this finals. And also usually chemistry, player growth and development are some of the sacrifices of forcing superstars together. It probably won't stop it but it should definitely make GMs see the other side of the coin again.

2/4 in four years as opposed to 1/2 in four years. Hmmm...

Anyway, I think this Spurs team has to go down as one of the best teams ever. They were excellent at defense, unstoppable on offense, and just so damn versatile. Also, one of the best sport coaches in history.
