17-3 run in last 3 minutes lost the clippers the game not 1 missed call that in reality ends up being the right call.

Certainly the game should not have been that close to begin with. But that doesn't change the significance of the ref's missed call.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

Wow. Nba rule was just shown that the call was the right call made. Nba official rules rule no.8 section 11.
"If a player has his hand in contact with the ball and an opponent hits the hand causing the ball to go out of bounds, the team whose player had his hand on the ball will retain possession."

The call was the correct call made according to the official nba rule book. See above^^^^^

Ehhh I'd like to see durant win a championship. I don't think they will get past the spurs tho.

I know the pacers keep struggling but I think they match up well with the heat.

Yeah I saw that. Find it kind of strange that this rule has never been highlighted or applied to a big call before.

    People overreacting about that game...
Westbrook was fouled by CP3 on that 3 point shot.... he made contact with his elbow, which constitutes a foul.
The Barnes-Jackson play.... NBA rule actually has the refs correct here.
NBA Rule 8, section II, paragraph c:
"The ball is caused to go out-of-bounds by the last player to touch it before it goes out, provided it is out-of-bounds because of touching something other than a player. If the ball is out-of-bounds because of touching a player who is on or outside a boundary, such player caused it to go out. If a player has his hand in contact with the ball and an opponent hits the hand causing the ball to go out-of-bounds, the team whose player had his hand on the ball will retain possession"
Chris Paul honestly made horrible plays and single handedly lost the game for them.

When this is a no call:

    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U39YkvLfQuk

But the cp3 call is a foul it really puts into perspective to me how poorly this league is officiated. So inconsistent and so poorly done. And contrasting these things and past episodes like the Kings series makes even someone like me who shuns conspiracy theories start to wonder how this stuff continues in the fashion it does.

Lets be real, most times when Crawford shoots a three and gets a call, it really isnt a foul either. He flops and the refs call it.

CP and Blake flop quite a bit too and usually get calls.
I also remember CP not getting called for a game tying or winning three by Curry in round one.

For the better, imo. I already don't like watching this Pacers-Wizards series and there would be more basketball like that if the league hadn't changed.

Did anyone watch the short post-game interview with CP? Seeing him completely take responsibility for the loss made me respect him a little more. He seemed pretty down on himself and basically flat out said that he played poorly and made bad decisions down the stretch.

It's why I continue to respect him but the truth is poor officiating did in the clippers tonight. Cp3 though is the reason the refs were such a factor though. He completely fell apart in the fourth.

Without the bad calls the clippers go into overtime or hang on to the win.

You can't call the foul on Westbrook then completely ignore this 5 seconds later:

Tonight’s games are going to suck. I do not even know why I thought a young team like the Blazers could hang with a well-oiled machine like the Spurs. Do not get me wrong, the Blazers have some amazing talent, but you can try new things and experiment against the likes of the Spurs. They will be better next year having more experience under their belt, but this is the Spurs series, unless some major injuries occur.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

I disagree 100%. The game of basketball was a much better brand in the 90s - 2000s. I would trade away today's nba for that in heartbeat. Refs blow too many whistles today. They affect the outcomes on games like never before.

If the blazers can pull out game 5 then things could get interesting.

"The pelican is fearsome. Take a raven, for example: it's omnivorous. It eats bugs, and seeds, and fruit, and carrion. Compared to the well-rounded citizen that is the raven, the pelican is the serial killer of birds." - Barry Petchesky, Deadspin

And if you look at my previous post the refs also clearly missed a foul on the final play during Chris Paul's drive.

The officiating was awful and I don't think anyone really thought he didn't foul him on that play though.

He deserved to take most of the credit, he mad a bunch of awful plays down the stretch. It was nice to see him upset though.

Agreed. Also, there were less 1 and dones which makes for better nba and NCAA. I long for those days again. I'm actually old enough to remember lakers celtics in the 80's. That was good bball

I like that defense is actually something more than simple man-to-man and that mugging and and hard fouls are mostly gone so that I can watch athletic players do their thing. 90's and early 2000's ball is ugly as all hell.

  23. #523

honestly... I think we had the same issue in a Pelicans game this past season... and Joel explained it as "hand being part of the ball" where if the defender slaps the offensive player's hand where he has the ball and it goes OOB... then it remains w/ the offense even though the defender hit the offensive player's hand and not the ball

I thought they ruled on the floor that it was Clippers ball and reversed it after the replay?
