How important is reliability and dependability?

Tyreke Evans is like a Corvette: Fast. Pwerful. Reliable. Dependable.

Gordon is like a Ferrari: Fast. Powerful. Better car on paper. More expensive. More likely to leave you stranded on the side of the road watching everyone else pass you by. Especially if you have one with a history of breaking down.

Somebody doesn't want to be proven wrong.

For some interesting (mostly panicked) reading, check here:

Made me feel much better about Evans - their fans are not happy one bit.

Pelicans should ask for an answere from Evans today. I would not let him hold us in limbo while he shops our offer around. Ask for answer today or move on to next guy on your list.

I really don't like this deal unless Gordon gets traded. It just feels like an awful lot of money to tie into one position when we haven't addressed the SF spot yet.

11 millions a year to have him play sixth man? No kidding please.

When they say that they don't want to deal Gordon, do they mean as part of this deal (making it a sign and trade), because I get that. Why trade Gordon for Reke, when you can sign Reke outright and trade Gordon for something else?
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

I don't like that he continues to shop it either. His agent is Tellem, one of the best in the NBA. He should have an idea of the market value after talking with interested teams. I heard last night on NBA.TV that he may even talk to one other EC team after the Hawks. We need to give him a deadline so that we can decide how to proceed with Lopez (as his deadline is approaching).

You just don't want to be live it because of your hatred towards Gordon

The only way Gordon gets traded will be if Dell gets an offer that blows him away. They aren't going to trade him to simply clear cap space.

He's also Robin Lopez's agent. So maybe Evans can do ROLO a solid and get him released after a career season so he can get paid.

You might as well move on to the next guy then because giving an ultimatum like this almost never works out like you want it. Also giving free agents deadlines reaks of desperation and becomes a deterrent to any other players you end up persuing down the line. Be patient and have some confidence in our front office .

If the Kings match we could be stuck with Gordon. Why burn bridges before you cross it?

Kid is 23 years old and has his first chance ever to explore his options.

It's been ONE DAY! He has every right to look into every option possible. To not do that would be irresponsible in my opinion. The fact that we are getting impatient on the second day of free agency and a frustration with this kid not making the biggest decision of his life yet just speaks to our generation.

    It's been ONE DAY!

As those of you who listen to the podcast probably know, my best friend works in B.O. for the Hawks.

Long story short, the meeting with Hawks was scheduled by Evans' agent, not the other way around. Hawks have little interest. More interested in other guys.

Doubt they are a threat, but you cant blame Evans agent for trying to sell his client to a team with all that cap space and a need on the perimeter

Still feeling Sac will be crazy enough to match. I just hope this isn't J.J. Hickson 2.0 in terms of the potential game.

What does that say for Evans' interest in the Pelicans (lukewarm? solely financially driven?)? He has gotten a phenomenal offer (by the comments in the media, much more than anyone anticipated), met with other teams, took our offer back to his original team and then still continues to look elsewhere. That, on top of the fact that we only hear of visits, not all the discussions his agent has with other teams around the NBA. He should already know the level of interest out there and be able to gauge whether there are bigger offers available. Hopefully Demps moves on and contines shopping so as to not lose another potential high target. If he agrees, fine. If not, maybe we can reach an agreement elsewhere and pull the offer if this lingers too long. I suspect it cannot linger more than another 2-3 days as Lopez has to be dealt with.

I have to admint, I am not clear as to what Demps' plan even is any longer for the team. It will be interesting to see what his plans are.

Aren't all the meetings out west with the agent (i.e. teams traveling to agent/player, not vice versa)? If so, are they flying out there just as a courtesy? I guess they could be visiting with him about some of his other players as well.

No. There are other guys out there that they already planning on seeing. Plus, Reke's agent has other guys they might be interested in.

    2 Things.

1.) Selling goes both ways. Teams often sell the player, but it can go the other way around. If Evans agent can get another 4-8 million out of the Hawks, why not try? This is a business after all.

2.) I agree. I would bet that we have all our answers by July 5th. In internet time, that seems like an eternity, but again, 20 years ago we would be completely in the dark until the 10th or maybe even the 13th
