Yeah sounds like he really wants to stay, although who knows who this info is really coming from, could be his camp to drive up offers. Think i'll stop refreshing so much n give Pelicans a few days to make some real roster moves.

A good business man will hear all pitches before accepting an offer. If he plans on getting another contract after this one, it would be in his best interest not to make any teams mad.

OH! It'll be sooner than I thought. The Kings only have 3 days to match. It isn't indefinite. Which struck me as odd when I said nine days. Sometimes you gotta say it outloud to get how ridiculous something sounds.

Is the pelicans front office n some ppl on this board the only ones that think this is a good offer for Evans...
Well I'm a bit on Reggie's side. There is something going on behind the scenes for them to go after him so hard. Especially after nabbing Holiday. I can't believe Evans wants to be a 6th man or wants to play the 3 either.

The Kings have 3 days to match when he officially signs, which if he agrees to a contract before the 10th, will most likely be the 10th. So this will continue until at least he 13th. Gordon didn't sign his until the 11th last year, that's why he has to approve all trades until he 14th of this month.

All contracts u hear before the 10th are verbal agreements between the team and a players agent, but they might as well be written down because if your agent screws over another team, it could cost his clients in the future.

hope we keep gordon, get tyreke, and sign brewer

Isnt it still nine days because he can't sign till July 10? And then a 72hr waiting period?

Not that he is terrible at either, but that has been the knock on him. He tends to get lazy on defense at times and loses focus and he does not have great court vision as he is still working on PG skills. For a 2 or 3, I am sure his court vision is considered fine.

Wow. You guys can be dumb sometimes

What's with everyone overrating other players and underrating our own. Gordon has ELITE talent. Evans' production has faltered ever since his rookie year and has a weak jump shot. Please. You'll be crying for EJ back if we ever trade him and decide to go the Evans route. I don't see what's so special about this kid.

    I agree

I'm hoping the Kings match Dell's offer, I just don't see Tyreke as a good fit for this team. I think a backcourt of Holiday and Gordon makes much more sense than Holiday & Evans or even using all 3 of them in small ball sets. Would rather not have to deal Lopez and Vasquez for cap space and then not have a chance to sign a decent SF or even upgrade the C positions.

I really think that if the team stands pat and only signs a SF of the Webster/Budinger/Brewer caliber that we can make a big jump next year if Gordon is healthy and AD develops more this offseason and stays healthy as well.

    A lineup of:
    PG: Holiday/Vasquez/Jackson
    SG:Gordon/Rivers/Vasquez
    SF:Webster/Miller/Vasquez
    PFavis/Anderson
    C:Lopez/Smith

Offers lots of flexibility and some great assets to trade at the deadline for upgrades or picks. If that team were to stay healthy I could see being the 6-8 seed. But that's just my two cents since I've never been enamored with Evans and think Gordon is the superior player IF healthy. Plus the team has bigger needs than signing another SG and then having to deal with finding a place to trade Gordon while getting nothing in return.
If you will excuse me, I have to go return some video tapes.

While I'm kind of neutral towards Tyreke Evans, I will never cry for Gordon back. His two years here have been nothing but crushed expectations and him trying to force his way out.

Because he didn't have any help

I would prefer not to sign Iggy either as he doesn't provide any floor spacing. Yes his defense is great and he can be a good leader but his game is predicated so much on athleticism and he's 29. Signing him to a 4 year deal worth 12m per could seriously hamstring the team's flexibility like the Posey signing (Iggy is a much better player though).

Evans has a weak jumpshot but bounced back last season and posted his best numbers since his rookie year (arguably better, but with less volume). Gordon has elite talent but his health and more expensive salary is a major thing to consider either way we go about it. IMO, if you can pull off the swap of Gordon/15 mil for Evans/11-12 mil, it's an easy call. It comes back to what a prospective Gordon deal looks like.

Iggy's game isn't predicated on athleticism. I too hope the Kings match that offer should Evans sign it though.
