I wonder if Evan's says his "heart" is in NOLA.
Sounds to me he is just using NO as leverage like Gordon did with the Suns.

To me it kind of sounds like they want to keep him but not at that price so they are begging him to sign a lesser deal.

Yeah, we may be the Suns in this scenario. No reason to waste 3 days if we have any indication they will match.

The Kings have plenty of cap room to match and keep him. So, the only issue could be if they want to replace him with someone else. Based on the info above, it does not appear so.

Tyreke Evans will meet w/ Atlanta tomorrow. Still had New Orleans offer on table. Met w/ Kings and Detroit today

Since our offer, he has shopped it to the Pistons and Kings and will shop it to Hawks tomorrow. Demps should tell him we need an answer. We should not spend the next week wondering whether he can get another team to outbid us. If he is not interested, we should move on to plan B.

  7. #1157
Why wouldn't he have a chance to see if other teams will match or exceed? I wouldn't want him taking forever, but a couple of days seems reasonable.

Yeah... if the world worked that convenient.

Screw the whole moratorium and fact that we can't sign anyone for a week.

Yo Tyreke... we need a promise, but not like in writing. We need one of those "Kushman word stronger than oak" promises. Cool? Alright man... dap it up. B/c we can't handshake.

I was pretty pumped, but it looks like Reke will be back in Sactown. I thought maybe they'd just let him go with Ben M. but they aren't going to just let talent like that walk and I can't blame them.

Still hoping they let him walk though.

    Might be calling his bluff.

Yeah, I'm not sure how his heard would be in a city he hasn't lived/played in. Dude wants to see what his options are. This decision will mean years of his career and millions of dollars.

Do you take Demps to be a fool? The guy knows what he is doing along with his coworkers. They know what they want this FA.

Uh, you do know that teams are reaching agreements with players already (and happens every year)? There is no reason for the Pelicans to wait the full moratorium for him to shop our offer. We have holes to fill.

Newest report is that we structured Reke's deal w/ a formula that would make it difficult for the Kings to match.
Probably one of those "poison pill" numbers like the Rockets hit up Knicks and Bulls last year for Lin/Asik

Who the hell is Jason Jones!?

Hearing New Orleans offer to Tyreke Evans is constructed to discourage Kings from matching.
how could a team do that?

Yup. They want him back badly, but it'll come down to where he sees his career going forward. Mike Malone being the new head coach, won't make that process easier for us.

If so, that probably explains the meeting. They'd need to convince him to sign their deal vs ours, because ours would basically ruin their salary cap (if it works in the same way).

Yes... very well aware. But those are w/ unrestricted players bro.

You can't expect him not to get his offer sheets... pick the best one and then the ball is in the Kings court.

You should be well versed in this since last year.

We cannot make offers to others while having the offer sheet extended to him. Hopefully we have a deadline of July 3 or so as we have to make a decision on Lopez by July 5.
