This article seems like a PR move from Paul's camp. Whoever this source is... they are deflecting every move that Paul was said to be connected to this past season. From Del Negro's firing to the Boston trade rumors. I don't buy it at all. This article was made to protect Paul's image.

Quite possible. My guess is maybe the front office still liked Del Negro and did not do anything to diffuse the perception (whether true or not) that the media stirred up about Paul being the reason Del Negro was fired. We see this situation every year now where the star doesn't want to play for a coach, some teams handle it better than others and the Clippers did not handle it well.

...and if Dell happened to throw a contract at him because he thinks he can be part of a winner in New Orleans, how does that effect your feeling?

I think every competent GM will make that phone call even if they know they have no chance. Its almost a formality but you never know when you may strike gold. Demps would be remiss in his duties if he didn't get in at least get in touch with Dwight's or Chris's agents even if he has no intention of signing either of those players.

quite frankly, there was nothing the clippers could do here for the public to not think otherwise...they were in a no win situation...they can't control what the public thinks...the clippers want to get a coach that their superstar likes...which is the right move and smart move to make

WARNING: IT'S A CHRIS BROUSSARD ARTICLE!

There are 2 elements at work here.

    1. It seems like CP3 is about as naive as Dwight Howard. He gets the Clips to fire Del Negro. We know this. Its not like he goes to Donald Sterling and demands Del Negro be fired, or says so to the press, but he makes it clear through other means where he has plausible deniability. Does he not know that del negro is gonna talk? Really? And he expects the Clips to keep that from happening??? Really? Especially since he already has had a coach fired in his career? C'mon Man. If he was smart, he would have given the Mark McGuire answer to any inquiry about this: "Not here to discuss the past"

    2. The Clips hsould have known better than to capitualte CP3. The Hornets made all kinds of moves in an effort to keep CP3 around, and they were all for naught. He didn;t want to be here. He didn't want to go to the Clips. He wanted to be in New York, he made that clear when he was here and i have no doubt that that is still what he wants, regardless of how possible or impossible that is.

    3. CP3 and Dwight Howard, we are told care so much about their image. Well, if they cared that much, you would think they'd do a better job of protecting it.

A Chris Broussard Article about a CAA athlete?

C'mon man! You guys know the fix is on right? Where does Chrissy Pooh want to play is it New York with Carmelo (CAA athlete) and old buddy Tyson Chandler or *gasp!* Indiana.... with Paul George (CAA athlete) and old buddy David West?

Don't think its possible? Shoot man. Anything is possible.

First, things first. Gotta "manufacture" drama. Make the situation untenable...and put the LA Clippers in desparation mode. Let's see Chris hates the work ethic and upside of his other two building blocks (Blake and D'Andre). Check. Now he's angry at ownership. Check.

Then the George Hill, Lance Stephenson, Danny Granger, & #Twentysomething pick pooh pooh platter starts looking delicious.... same for craptastic offer of Raymond Felton, Iman Shumpert, & JR Smith . I mean that's better than letting Chris walk for nothing right?

Chris is from BR, take it easy on em. He is one of the only guys who defends the Pelicans name who isn't a player or coach.

That's cool. Still doesn't change the fact that he's a writer (an objective position, supposedly) that's connected to the Worldwide Wes, Leon Rose, CAA circle jerk. I mean it's totally cool, it's not like what they are doing is illegal. CAA is a major playor in the entertainment industry (movies, etc.) and this what happens. Stars pull power moves to get the projects they want, the roles they want etc. CAA is clearly taking that model to the sports world. It's smart. He's not a bad guy, he's just part of it.

Chris is tryin to protect his image that is all. The owner himself basically admitted it was to keep CP happy....

This might be the most shocking development of the NBA season. Donald Sterling made a decision to actually keep a high-priced free agent as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers.

According to T.J. Simers at the LA Times, Sterling was reluctant to fire head coach Vinny Del Negro, but knew that it was something he had to do in order to keep point guard Chris Paul as apart of the organization:

“The coach is a wonderful man, and I’m sad about the whole thing,” Sterling said.

“Was this done,” I asked, “just to hang on to Chris Paul?”

“I always want to be honest and not say anything that is not true,” Sterling said. “So I’d rather not say anything. But you know, the coach did a really good job. I think he did. And I liked working with him. There are just factors that make life very complicated and very challenging.”

And people pine over him a lot like the way you might treat the one that got away.

Comparing every next one to the last one.

Fearing that the next one will leave you too.

Jumping at any chance to get back together...

    This made me laugh.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"
