Thread: If Trey Burke goes to Orl..

If Trey Burke goes to Orl..

What happens with Jameer Nelson? He still has a lot left to give, and has had a solid career so far. Throw in his more than favorable contract, I wonder what will happen with this guy.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

You bring up a pretty good point.

While at 31, Nelson may be on the wrong side of the NBA age calendar, he's still playing at a fairly respectable level and is signed to a pretty cap friendly contract.

I'm pretty sure Orlando will go with Burke, if for no reason other than to get younger, and will dangle Nelson in trade talks. He wouldn't be a horrible option for the teams who lose out on the CP3 sweeps, and for those that don't want to get in a bidding war and risk overpaying Brandon Jennings.

I'd laugh pretty hard if Burke went 2.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

If Trey Burke goes to Orl..

...I'd be ecstatic because that would mean that we'd have a better chance at one of the big 4. We would only need Anthony Bennett, C.J. McCollum, or someone else to jump into the top 5 which is a good possibility.

Not sure why anyone would want Nelson and his $8.6 million contract next year, especially for the Pelicans if that is what anyone is suggesting. He's good for 65 games if you're lucky and he's never really had any eye popping seasons. Orlando would be dumb to pass on Burke, but I still think they go McLemore.

Nelson would be a great vet on a contender he's, underrated in that regard because he can be a productive vet that will bring you some points consistently with leadership too add, sort of like Jack with GS.

I'd be very nervous. PHX likely takes Dipo and Porter will be gone. Man O man.

Then hopefully that means Mclemore falls to us.

    My top 4 prospects are:

    1.Burke
    2.Porter
    3.McLemore
    4.Oladipo

I really expect one of them to fall to us, and luckily, I think Burke is the most likely.

McLemore seems like the better fit in Charlotte over Oladipo. I'd imagine if McLemore, Oladipo, and Porter all fell to the fourth pick, Charlotte would take McLemore, Phoenix would take Oladipo, and New Orleans would be left with Porter.

Burke going second is fine, as long as Bennett is also taken before us.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

Yes indeed. Bennett or Len will get taken top 5.

I wonder if Orlando will keep Nelson on the books or trade him. He is too good to be a backup, and doesn't have the championship pedigree like Billups to do what Billups is doing in LA.

I have Burke as my #4 PG prospect behind Schroeder, Carter-Williams, and McCollum.

You're the spitting image of daThrone on Davis before last draft.

I would expect them to keep him atleast until the trade deadline to help mentor Trey with the contract he's on. He gives you a solid veteran presence. Depending on Burkes play at that point, they could trade him if they feel Burke is ready to start and lead the team full time.

Major difference: Davis was the consensus #1; Burke is a consensus nothing. Some have MCW above him, and McCollum isn't far behind.

Who has MCW above Burke, and why?

I haven't seen any mock drafts that have Carter-Williams or anyone else at PG for that matter going ahead of Burke...for what it's worth.

There's nothing wrong with having a unique opinion. So you don't need to justify anything.

I'm not saying I've seen mock drafts; I'm just talking about big boards. HoopsWorld, HoopsAnalyst, and David Bauman have him ranked over Burke I believe.

I love CJ and wouldn't bat an eyelash if Dell took him at 6. I might actually put him above Burke on my big board a well. Kid has a universe of upside.

    Pelicans

#2 is a little high for Orlando to pick Burke. They may want to trade down to #6 to take Burke. In that case we could take McLemore at #2 and separately trade Gordon for a SF.

I listened to the recent LockedOnJazz Podcast which featured Chad Ford yesterday. When asked what Ford has noticed that produces more hits than misses, he responded that most of the players that succeed have either "elite size for his position" or "elite athleticism."

    Schroeder-athleticism
    Carter Williams-size and athleticism
McCollum/Burke-neither really: I just like McCollum as a personal preference.
