Thread: Keeping Eric Gordon is the right decision

  1. #26
As a long-time lurker and a first-poster, Eric Gordon cannot be a part of this team next year. We learned the hard way this past year, and I don't want to have to learn again.

Yeah well he only played like 7 games.

Agreed. All-Star is for big name players. Gordon is obviously All-Star calibre when you watch him play.

He was referring to the season when he was 22 (2 years ago), and he averaged 22.3 points per game. He also averaged 4.5 assists/game.

You don't think Gordon should be here next season? Then get the hell out of here!

Just playing man, welcome to the board

56 games, u were close though.

Haha. I love the way he plays, but I can't be sure if the risk is worth taking.

For me, it's simple. Is he an All Star calibre player? Yeah? Okay, then how injury prone is he? Alright, he's fairly injury prone... Hmm... Well, how serious have the injuries been? Oh... They weren't serious? None of them? Alright, then I'll roll the dice.

  7. #32
So y'all are saying next season Eric Gordon is going to be all star? MVP? Hope he stays healthy.

It all goes back to the discussion last year...do you think this is dumb-luck or is it a skill? Last year, I thought dumb luck. This year I think it's a skill.

exactly, none of them are degenrative or reoccuring he just has bad luck, so did dwyane wade, look how that worked out. I say ride him out atleast until the trade deadline then see whats up, everyone wanting to trade him this year, the draft next year is way better.

He was not playing as an All star calibre guy in the last 56 game; sorry. I do think it's in out best interest to keep him though.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

He played 56 games? Damn. If he was so good the clippers probably would have never shipped him out.

    when did anyone say MVP?

Nor did we say he would be an all star, we said he has that talent, either ur reading comprehension is terrible are u assume a lot and like to put words in people's mouthes.

ur right, cp3, one of the best point guards to play the game who also is known for getting athletic bigs into the game offensively, which the clippers have in griffin and deandre, ya the clippers just dumped gordon for a bum...

    ur arguments are terrible.

Well, All Star is subjective. It's based on popularity. Do I expect his numbers to be at an All Star level? Sure, I'd say that's about my expectation level. MVP? Not a chance. He doesn't have the star power yet. That said, if he stays relatively healthy, I expect him to average something in the neighborhood of 24+ points, 5+ assists, and 1.5+ steals. I think his defense takes a step forward under Monty, and I think he picks up 2-3 assists per game just throwing the lob to Davis.

The gap between All-star and MVP may be bigger than All-star and fringe All-star.

It's more of the idea that you always take a top-5 player when you have the chance. Gordon was coming off a great year, and they tried everything to keep him. They even bluffed us and wouldn't include him, so we went with the Lakers trade. When that deal fell through, LAC jumped on the phone and gave up Gordon because they were being greedy and trying to low-ball us since they knew CP wanted out. They definitely tried to keep him though. Who wouldn't want a 22 year old SG who averaged 22 points and plays good defense?

  17. #42
Not all All Stars are a popularity contest. Just the starters.

I'll say this, in what seems to be his most healthy off-season in a while, there's no way I would trade him before the season UNLESS I get a offer I can't pass up.

Who said CP3 was a bum? If the clippers thought Gordon would be good they would have stuck with him.

What? This makes no sense. None. If the Clippers thought he's be BETTER than CP3 they may have stuck with Gordon. If they thought'd he'd be good; they make the trade. CP# is a top 5 player. Gordon has a ceiling of a Perennial All star. What aren't you understanding about having to trade a few good assets for a greater asset?

He just got to stay healthy and act like he wants to play here. I worry about the Baron Davis effect.

2 years and counting. I guess it is better late than never.

Wade was a much better proven player and was much healthier over the same span of years. And there was no reason to question whether or not Wade wanted to play for the Heat. Significantly different situation.

I'll agree there. Wade looked like he was ready to overtake Kobe pretty quickly.
