Thread: People Who Could Fit on the Pelicans

People Who Could Fit on the Pelicans

    Point Guards:
    Eric Bledsoe
    Jeff Teague
    Brandon Jennings

    Shooting Guards:
    OJ Mayo
    Tyreke Evans
    Gerald Henderson
Alec Burks - starting to play well, love his size, scoring inside and outside and his potential, if given the minutes he would be on pace to average 15-5-3 while shooting 36% from 3 this season. And he's only 21

    Small Forwards:
Jimmy Butler - athletic beast for the bulls, can finish, hit the 3, awesome defender and rebounder
    Chase Budinger
Tobias Harris - tweener who has been on a scoring and rebounding tear, averaging 17-8 with the magic
    martel webster
    earl clark
    landry fields
    alonzo gee
    gerald green

    Centers:
jordan hill - still young and has potential, great rebounder, good defender
    andray blatche
greg smith - young guy averaging 6pts 5reb in 15 minutes, could be a 15-11 guy with 35 minutes
    kevin seraphin

Would really like to get my hands on jeff teague, gerald henderson, alec burks, jimmy butler, tobias harris, and greg smith.

I think JJ Hickson should be someone we target now that Portland have come out and said they wont be signing him next season.
He is a versatile big who can play PF and C.

See the JJ Hickson thread: http://www.pelicansreport.com/showth...son-as-of-late (page 2)

I would LOVE Butler but I have no idea how we could get him.

Jimmy Butler is going to be something special. I would ship away Gordon an Lopez for him. Only problem is we'd probably have to take on Boozer which would be horrendous.

Give me Martell Webster all day. Starting calibre SF, only 26 years old, and he can also play some SG. TS% of .601, ORtg 115, DRtg of 105, WS/48 of .138. I like him as a role player. Let him defend, hit the open 3 (shooting the 3 at over 42% this season), and run the floor.

I have a feeling that when Monty was talking about the guys who come to him during the game and say "don't forget about me this off season," I feel like one of those guys is definitely Webster. Monty coached him in Portland, and we have a need for a SF. Shouldn't be too expensive either since he is a role player. I'd give him $5-6 million per year.

Wow Webster is only 26? It seems that he has been in the league for ever.

I'm also a big fan of Butler, but I don't think we have anything the would be interested in.

Also: no love for Corey Brewer?

Do not be surprised to see the Pelicans making a push for Tyreke Evans.

Consider how well he fits into the rotation the way Monty likes to run with Vasquez, Gordon, and Mason.
He makes up for some size that Mason and Gordon dont have, speed and athelticism that Vasquez doesnt have, and he can penetrate much better than Mason.

Reke is my sleeper acquisition. People talk about create your own offense guys at wing? That's Reke.

I'm starting to think signing a big name 4 or 5 isn't going to be realistic. We've already have 4 bigs and have had trouble distributing minutes. I can't imagine adding another that will require big minutes. We all know that Anderson and Davis are primed for big minutes next season with Lopez and Smith thrown in somewhere in between.

I think it's unrealistic for the team to get rid of both Lopez and Smith who are valuable in their own right with extremely cap friendly contracts for a big name bigman who will be fighting for minutes. I just don't see an agent who'd want their player going into that type of situation.

If they are adamant about adding another big, it's going to be through the draft. I just can't imagine a realistic scenario where bringing in a big name bigman would work for all parties.

Right the group we have now is pretty stacked. Maybe not with stars but its better than most big man groups. When we lack, so much, in other areas, theres no reason why we would change anything down low.

No more horrendous contracts, from other teams or given by this team. I would rather they lose with cheap young players than lose with older player with awful contracts.

I do NOT want Jeff Teague at all. AT ALL. I would love to get Bledsoe or Jennings, but I don't get the love for Teague.

Young, athletic, quick, great shooter shooting 37% from 3 and 88% from the FT, good passer and quick enough to defend the quicker point guards. He's like a cheaper brandon jennings but better on D and way less of a chucker.

He just never stands out to me. I don't think he's as good of a shooter as Jennings. He has potential, but not near as much as Bledsoe. To me his ceiling is where Brandon Jennings already is. Guess I've just never been a fan of his. I'd rather just roll with Vasquez again next season.

    Jeff Teague Averaging: 15 points - 7 asists - 2.5 rebounds - FG 45% - 3PT 37% - FT 88%
    Brandon Jennings Averaging : 18 points - 6.5 assists - 3 rebounds - FG 40% - 3PT 37.5% - FT 82%

jennings averages more points but takes more shots and shoots a lower percentage, same assists basically, Same 3pt %, teague the better defender and FT shooter and cheaper. I'd rather teague personally. Teague also finishes around the rim at a MUCH higher percentage, Jennings is terrible at the rim, Teague finishes very well. Much rather teague who is the better defender and finisher for cheaper. Thats just me though.

Jennings would set the record for most angry threads started by lack of effort followed by hero ball on this site.

He's gonna get PAID and waste away.
    Wherehappens.
