Couldn't we just buy out RJ's contract?

That was the premise of my thread. I don't see how we give up Gordon for 2 elite role players, and we don't use our max money to sign an elite player. If we lose Gordon, we have to get a guy who can run the team and close out games.

Sam Amico posted on his twitter that if GS does a deal either Beidrins or Rich Jeff has to be included.
How would our current flexibility be gone when Klay's and Jefferson's contract are very close to what Gordon is making next year?

Their combined salaries next year are only $7,307 more than Gordon's.

only way a trade from gs is acceptable is if they give us thompson, barnes, rush and 1st for gordon other than that we just do better with gordon and building our team thru the draft and one more free agent .

However, the constant injury situation is not getting any better. I think it is more of a situation whereby he cannot play through pain. I think a Thompson, Barnes and Biedrens for Gordon and Roberts is the best we can hope for and even that is a stretch. I just do not know how much of a market there is for a max contract injury prone SG.
This is a huge part of it, but don't discount the $ aspect of it either. We save a LOT of money doing this deal, which allows us to buy an elite FA this off season.

I hope you are joking. Why not make them throw in the next 5 years 1st rounders while they are at it.

That isn't true at all. Their combined salaries are $16.2 million, while Gordon's salary is $14.2, so we'd be taking on an extra $2 million, which puts us out of the max-FA sweepstakes.

Good point, I'm just over reacting because I REALLY don't want just Klay and Rich Jeff for Gordon. I'd rather wait til the summer.

That's not accurate. He just didn't do his research. We gain $2 million in the deal.

half of the people who wants Klay only for gordon is a joke and not thinking at all. so i dont think rush barnes and klay and a 1st is too far fetched for gordon and maybe lance thomas.

But if teams are scared to give you anything of value because of injury history now.....whats going to change in the summer time?

You forgot to include Barnes. He brings it up $2 million. Why on earth would we EVER trade Gordon for Thompson straight up? That is a bad deal, and Demps isn't that stupid.

The only thing I can of is that if they wait until the summer, there may be a better deal (players) out there that can serve the Hornets better. Gordon pretty much has say so right now about where he goes. Once that veto is gone he won't have that much say so. At least I don't think so. His best bet would be to play and hopefully play well so more teams would have more interest in him. Of course we would be taking a risk that he doesn't get more injured than he already has been.

THAT deal probably wouldn't even get league approval.

    Agree with the first part.

While the 2nd part is true, I don't think it plays a role. If we want to trade him to Golden State, do you really think he'll reject the deal? Heck no. Also, if he really wants out as badly as people are claiming (which I highly doubt, but whatever), then he'll approve almost any deal, so it doesn't play a role at all IMO.

You people are way too eager to trade Gordon. I can promise you that we won't trade him for scraps. That is ridiculous. Demps will only move him if we get top dollar, and that means BOTH Thompson AND Barnes + cap space.

Gordon still has veto power even if the trade goes down, it could be crushed. Or better yet he could fail the physical

Who knows? For all we know, he might not want to share the "spotlight" with Curry.

Where are his brothers? Maybe he'll approve a deal close to his brothers. Who knows?

Some are willing to trade him for...

I guess they figure these might leave a better taste in their mouths than Gordon does.

I like EG's game, but anyone who thinks he's worlds better than Thompson is probably thinking of the old Clippers EG. The dude has lost a step with his injuries and isn't really that productive anymore. Thompson is just starting to figure it out, add Barnes to that and this is a no-brainer.

Well what exactly else is left about his game that you like then? When you say you like his game it sounds like you're talking about old Clippers EG too.
