    2013 Current Draft Order/ Hornet's Pick #6

If the season ended today we would have the 6th pick and the draft would go as follows

    washington - cody zeller
    detroit - shabazz muhamad
    sacramento - marcus smart
    cleveland - nerlens noel
    orlando - tony mitchell
    "New Orleans"-

There are a bunch of great pieces to be had at around this spot

james mcadoo - a combination of josh smith's athleticism with james worthy's jumpshot and IQ. Scores, rebounds and blocks shots w the best of them.

Otto Porter - A true do it all SF, great jumpshot and has an unorthodox style but can score. Has extreme balance and agility, blocks shots, gets assists, steals, everything. great size at 6"8 with a 7"1 wingspan. very unselfish, reminds me of a better shooting, less athletic iggy.

Alex Len - My fav prospect at 7"1 with a crazy good post game, rebounder and shot blocker. Ask Nerlens Noel, he destroyed him with 24 pts 12 rebs and 4 blocks and shut down Noel. Has endless potential. Reminds me of marc gasol.

Archie Goodwin - a 6"5 SG who can score effortlessly from anywhere on the court. A mirror image of Monta Ellis but less selfish.

Ben McLemore - a 6"5 SG who was just said to be the most talanted player ever seen at Kansas (according to their headcoach) This kid is the most athletic player in the draft. JR Smith clone without the atitude.

Isiah Austin - 7"1 who is averaging 14.9 pts and 9 rebounds and shooting 40% from 3. More athletic Andrea Bargnani

Now when the hornets pick and these players are available for me it comes down to WHO we grab in free agency and WHAT happens with Gordon. If Gordon comes back healthy and its clear the team will not trade him then I see no point in drafting a SG. If we do part ways with him I would absolutely love to get Archie Goodwin or Ben McLemore, but if we do keep gordon and he is the plan I think our BEST choice would either be Alex Len at Center or Otto Porter at SF

I will cover him more in my piece on Saturday, but a guy I expect to fly up the boards this year: Marcus Smart, Freshman at Oklahoma State. The closest thing I have seen to Dwayne Wade since Dwayne Wade, and if Gordon is gone by then (fingers crossed) this guy would be a perfect companion to Rivers for the next 10 years

Deshaun Thomas may be the most gifted offensively in college. Doesn't play any defense.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

Marcus smart is dirty. He is only a shooting guard but has a great ability to block shots. We played them every year in our district and he killed us and phil forte also played for Marcus high school with Marcus Smart and won back to back 5A state titles. The only thing i didnt like about that whole situation was Marcus Smart, along with other players were living in the district and theyre homes were being paid for by Forte's loaded dad so they were buying homes for players to live in so they could team up and win state. They were under investigation but nothing fell through because theres too many loop holes. To end my rant, ill go back to him blocking shots,it was the texas high school playoffs like 3 years ago they played against Duncanville high school(Perry Jones), who was one of the nations best in high school. Smart, at 6'3 and only a sophmore guarded 6'10 perry jones who was a senior THE ENTIRE GAME, right from the opening tip(which smart beat Jones). Marcus Smart had over 10 blocks in the game and 7 were nasty stuffs on Perry Jones. It was something i'll never forget because it was a 10th grade shooting guard dominating one of the best high school centers in the country at the time

Eric Gordon shouldn't be considered when completing this draft pick. History doesn't lie. When has this kid played a full season. We need a point guard to run this team. Vasquez is a second string and change of pace player. He isn't first string material.

Kyle Anderson is the guy I want. He can run the offense from the small forward position which makes having a lesser point guard not that big of a deal. I expect him to rise up draft boards as the season goes along.

I'd still stick with Otto Porter in this. A guy who can be ball dominant when you need him to, a triple-double threat, and at the very least, above-average on both ends of the floor.

He has a refines mid range game and can create off the dribble. Not a super athlete, but he isn't lazy. The only downside in his game was his motor, before this season. He has looked impeccable so far though. Len really intrigues me too, so much so I think he will be the best center in this class, including Noel and Zeller(I'm not very high on either and would take Zeller over Noel).

Alex Poythress is a straight hound, could be an Aminu clone though.

I like Alex Len & Alex Poythress for the Hornets

Mcadoo or Smart: Smart is a born winner!! He has all the tools to be an all star PG. He is big and strong, has great athleticism, can pass the rock, and can flip that scoring switch.

Mcadoo is an awesome athlete! He has developed a mid range jumper this year and has been pretty consistent in hitting it. He is one of the best players in the country at interrupting passing lanes.

PG: Luke Ridnour, Delonte West, Greg Minor

    SG: Andre Iguodala, Mickael Pietrus

    SF: Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Boris Diaw

C: Eddy Curry, Mamadou Ndiaye, Adam Parada

Huge Georgetown fan, watch every game, but as much as I like Porter, his offense in the UCLA was a mini-fluke and I hope people do not consider that the norm from him. He is a defensive specialist who has a solid mid-range jumper. He is actually a lot like a former Georgetown player, Jeff Green, on the offensive end. Defensively, though, the sky is the limit. In fact, the comparison I keep coming back to is young AK47. He is great on the ball and off the ball, can rack up steals and blocks in bunches, and can really get back in transition.

And as far as draft philosophy, I take best available unless his skill set clashes with a superstar on my team. Not a solid player, not a current starter. A superstar. I see Davis as a Duncan type when his body matures, able to play the four or the five. I love Ryno, but his shooting ability allows he to play the 3 or 4 on offense and I could bring him off the bench if I get a dominant center. Therefore, nobody is off the board for me merely because of the position they play. Best available player or you will regret it. Memphis took Thabeet at #2 because they had Conley at PG and Mayo at SG. Passed on Harden because they "didin't need a SG". Hundreds of examples of teams doing this throughout the years. Not us! B-P-A.

This is looking like an excellent class early; hopefully the trend holds.

Actually, this is supposed to be a terrible class.

The 2014 draft class is looking like the best class since 2003.

Really? I don't see any stars in this draft. Not even potential stars, just a lot of really good college players who will be pretty good pro players.

    2014, not 2013.

I think Hornets need to get a center and keep Davis at PF

Oh, yeah. Without a doubt then. I can't even list the sheer amounts of talent coming up.

I doubt we stay at number 6 when Gordon come back and the guys get use to playing wih each other more. With thay daid I only want a SF or Center out of this draft, unless a player gets traded. Since Rivers is developing into a pretty good point guard. IMO Smart would be a good pick. He can be great on this team, a James Harden type role where he plays the 1 and 2 when either Rivers or Gordon get tired or injured. This would be great for our squad!

I know!!! The prize is Andrew Wiggins, but Jabari Parker has to be the best consolation of all time!! There's also the Harrison Twins, Aaron Gordon, Julius Randle, Noah Vonleh, James Young, Kasey Hill, Chris Walker, and not to mention the people who could come back to school!!
