Thread: Rest of season game thread because we suck - Pels vs Anybody - 5 - 77

We're 11 games behind 10th place (Minnesota). And 10 games behind 11th place (Sac). We're not going to make that up.

Yeah, no possible way we're making the play-in. Disappointing we couldn't at least split the games with Washington. Pre-lottery draw we're going to want the best % possible.

Flattened odds. We're probably going to be one of the bottom 5 teams so it probably doesn't matter.

    Yay?

I'm not sold the team will be able to stay healthy enough for that. If healthy it's possible.

I would be happy to take a season where somehow everyone gets healthy going down the stretch and we somehow miraculously get into the playoffs. But then Griff will be tempted to run it back. In all honesty though, I just want to see the team fully healthy for a few months to see what they can do. We've never actually seen it before. It would also lift trade values.

I don't want playoffs. We will get bopped hard. A 10th seed is not worth it with Willie Green at the helm. I fully expect us to just miss the playoffs which is the worst possible scenario.

.500 probably doesn't get us the 10th seed, even though currently we'd be tied for 10th with that record. To end at .500 the Pels would have to go 34-12 (.739) for the rest of the season (not even the Celtics have that win rate). There's zero chance that happens. It's only about lottery seeding at this point.

Zion is questionable tonight and is a GTD.
Murray is also a GTD with a sore elow that he played through for a triple double in the last game. He will likely go.

Trey and BI are the only ones listed as OUT tonight.

500 the rest of the way seems pretty unlikely. We have 46 games left. That would put us at.30 and 52. That's 14th place last year. We don't have to worry about making the playoffs unless we somehow become a good team and I doubt that's happening.

The Cavs and Thunder are quite a bit above that though. At .886 and .857 each so it isn't impossible. At least not for those 2 teams this year so far.

But it still likely wouldn't be enough for 10th.

Yeah, we're not in the same stratosphere as the Cavs, Thunder or Celtics. .739 over the course of a season is 61 wins. Adding Zion doesn't give us that win rate. Adding Zion and a healthy Ingram doesn't give us that win rate.

This is me after continuing to be a Saints fan for about 45 years and a Hornets/Pels fan since they arrived.

Uh, no. We're saying there's not a chance. (now 11.5 games behind the 10 seed)

I won't give up until we are mathematically eliminated. Which may be next week at the current rate.

(As a side note, I have to ask if you are familiar with this scene from Dumb and Dumber?)

    LMAO

Y’all thought beating the Wizards and getting Zion back would cure everything, Good one!

    Tank on!

That might have been the worst NBA game I have ever attended...and that's including sitting through a 0-12 run many years ago (12-game package). At least we might have been in a few of those games. At some point, and that might be now, the fan base just stops caring and doesn't show up. There were about 75 people in the upper bowl.

No chance bro. The team as constructed isn't built to compete for a playoff spot... let alone a title. And as much as I'm a "players play" guy... it seems the team has tuned Willie totally out. Blow this thing up... Trade all assets. Keep a few young studs that we got as a foundation (TM3, Missi and Herb). Tear it down to the studs and begin the rebuild. Watching this team is depressing.

I'd be for trading Herb also. His value will never be higher. He's not THAT young (he'll be 27 next year) and could probably net us a few firsts.

Agree here and we should've traded Herb instead of Dyson over the summer. Would've netted more and had Dyson ready to go as a replacement.

Sure, obviously. I know you might not be 100% serious but the point remains.

Sad when it was more entertaining watching Dan Dickau and Lee Nailon. At least they gave 110% every game.
