Pelicans October 30th - New Orleans Pelicans @ Golden State Warriors - 2-2

Looks like it turned out to be a step up in competition after all even with Curry out. After a great start there was no response to the increased defensive intensity applied by the Warriors. Also not having anyone outside of Zion and Ingram step up was a huge problem. Looked like a classic case of letting the stars get theirs and shuutting down everyone else. CJ or Hawk must step up and respond tonight.

Back on the local channels and pels plus tonight.

We need to find a crisis point guard to replace Murray. It's not that Zion and BI can't playmake. It's just too much of a burden on them mentally and physically to do it all game. Very few players can handle that burden. I say look for someone to handle that burn in case of emergencies. Look overseas, summer league, etc. Willie tried to run a team for years without a primary playmaker to help Zion and BI for years. It didn't work. He is not a good enough coach offensively at this point in his career to make this work. We don't have a real system which is needed without a designated playmaker. We just need to stop the bleeding til Murray gets back. That was 2 winnable games we lost and could be approaching a 3rd tonight. Have to be better on all fronts.

Why did we get rid of Elfrid Payton? Wouldn't he be capable?

I would think so. Quite frankly, I'm a bit confused as to why we kept Cain and BBJ if we have no intention of using them even in an injury crisis. Could have been much better served with a PG and a PF/tweener that could backup Zion because Robinson Earl is not very good and shows little sign of improving. Combination of Griff making questionable decisions and Willie just being a bit stubborn with his selections. I feel like Karlo should have at least seen a few more minutes by now. Could have even run some duo big lineups with Jemison/Karlo in short spurts like Javale/Dwight. Willie doesn't really care to experiment.

    CJ and Herb out.

Willie better let Borrego take over the offense completely unless he wants to get fired. Worst coach in the league (tied with Doc Rivers).

And to think we were wondering who the starters would be once the season started. Dropping like flies already 4 games in. We really get to see if BI and Zion can carry this team together though. They should be able to will this team to wins as a pair on most nights if they are as good as advertised. The jury is still out...

Willie needs to find a way to stop teams from waltzing into our paint. Even when we switched to a zone, we couldn't effectively do it. If you can't defend inside or outside, you are not doing your job as a defensive minded coach. As for offense, we have to find some more structure and make it easier for our guys to have an impact. Been disappointed with both sides of the ball since Dejounte went down.

its like, jrue last contract year for us...jrue didnt like running the offense...we had injuries and tim frazier started at PG and jrue was the SG....having frazier as the PG , unlocked all of jrue greatness...jrue was able to just focus on scoring and defense and tim had the offense running smooth .....

the next season we signed rondo and we all were happy that we had a general running the show...

we have to get rid of jose and upgrade the backup PG spot...

They still aren't showing the game on any antenna channels in the Lake Charles area.

I can only catch GSW feeds that stay frozen on IPTV. So.....whatever.

    Lol

My stream unfrozen long enough for me to catch GSW announcers bragging about how they have no real PG currently and it doesn't seem to matter.

We are doing significantly better at preventing them from getting inside and we are getting our hands on the ball. Offensively the ball movement is better, but can we maintain that for the game and bring it into the games after? We will have to get better if we want to wait out the injuries unscathed.

Keep it close and takeover late. As poorly as we have shot, it is very close. Keep them out, protect the ball and hit your shots.

This looks like the Lakers in-season tournament game last year when Lebron completely threw Zion off his game by taking a couple of charges. Zion is letting Green get in his head and isn’t staying aggressive. Thought he would have learned to trust his talent by now and shrug off bad calls by the refs. Disappointing.

Yes, should challenge that, but Willie Green is an awful coach. Start the fire Willie Green thread now.

BI with lazy defense and too many turnovers . 2nd half looking a hell of a lot like the last game.

I have a feeling something bad is going to happen this season
