this is why I am skeptical about the Murray - BI - Herb - Zion - Center lineup that everyone thinks we will go with as the starters. The Pels were in the bottom third of the league last year in 3 point volume. That is not a recipe for success, and its going to get worse with that lineup. The guy in the video is right that both Zion and BI are more effective when they have teammates who provide spacing via catch and shoot 3s. We just so happen to have 2 guys on the team who are great at that: CJ is an elite high volume catch and shoot 3 point guy and Trey Murphy is up there as well. And yet we want to put them both on the bench in favor of having the midrange guys all operating out there together? I don't see it.
The only time we've ever had a PG (Lonzo Ball) paired with BI, he averaged 33% more threes. BI was also calling for a PG at the end of the season. There's a lot of growth that needs to happen for our young players between playing the game a little different, playing through injuries, coming into the season in shape, shaking up the team where we finally have a PG, etc where we really have to wait until the season starts to see how all those variables will change the equation because there are so many of them.
There's still the strange reality that Zion, BI, and CJ have spent more time as teammates not playing together then actually playing together. Murray orchestrating things has a good chance of bringing everything together.

We won’t know anything until the season actually starts. I’m not 100 percent sold on Green as the right coach for this squad, but I like him and think it would be cool for a young guy like him to challenge the elite coaches. As for the squad- it can work. Will it work with Willie? It’s about compromise really. He will probably have to change his tendencies as will some of the players. It isn’t just BI. It’s CJ, Zion and others as well. We are an interesting squad. We really aren’t that much worse off at the 5 than we were after Lance fell off. Backup 4 isn’t even 100 percent necessary in the modern game when you can use wings and big men to fill that gap. Naji is a big loss as is Dyson, but as others said it forces Willie to work with what he’s got and make the players at his disposal better. For whatever reason Dyson was a black hole on offense (I don’t think it was all his fault though) so it was probably for the best that he move on. I just feel like he limited the growth of this team under Willie.
Zion is happy with him here so Ingram goes nowhere.
Did anybody see Germany vs France? Curious to get opinion about how well Theis held up against Wembanyama and Gobert.
He held his own in all of these matches. I think Theis is going to be a pleasant surprise. He just knows where to be on both ends of the floor.
Seeing that Wembenyama struggled against Germany, if Theis can handle that match up defensively while still getting rebounds, it's an indication that we are in pretty good shape. And he's making free throws and threes when called upon too. Daniel Theis I was not familiar with your game, I apologize!
My biggest concern is rebounding.
Good conversation here... they mention a potential BI trade with Utah for Collins and Kessler. Would you guys make that trade for those 2 players with no picks?
No. Collins is an overpaid PF. Kessler is a solid center, but BI is the far superior player. At the trade deadline if BI still wants $50 million a year, and that is the best deal on the table, sure. We have enough bodies at center to find a couple decent players. Kessler is a level above what we have, but he isn’t a top tier center.

Zion posted on Instagram looking thinner than I have ever seen him. His father says he is below his college weight. Might be a fast start to the season this year...
Looks like we're signing Jevonte Green.
BI, Zion, and CJ had a net rating of +3 when on the court together. BI and Zion had a +13.4, BI and CJ had a +13.2, Zion and CJ was just +5.4.
BI and Zion worked. BI and CJ worked. It was CJ and Zion and all three together that didn't work.

Naji replacement?
Matt Ryan waived!
Sources: The New Orleans Pelicans are waiving wing shooter Matt Ryan. Ryan averaged 5.4 points and shot 45.1 percent from 3-point range in 13 minutes a night over 28 games for Pelicans last season. pic.twitter.com/gbc2bZCRkK
