The New Orleans Saints and QB Drew Brees, after months of negotiations, have agreed to a 5 year/$1oo million contract. From Chris Mortensen of ESPN:

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints have reached an agreement on a five-year, $100 million contract that all sides concur will guarantee Brees an NFL-record $60 million, including a first-year take in 2012 of $40 million, according to league, players union, and team sources.

The accord was struck Friday morning in the latest round of negotiations between Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and Brees’s agent, Tom Condon.

This new deal will keep Brees through the 2016-17 season, and almost certainly guarantees that #9 will retire a Saint.
