Yeah sorry I've taken a break for awhile.

Some posts got deleted. M.M. Got his feathers ruffled? The funny thing is some people think he is gives good info. The fact is when you get your accounts suspended from Twitter you are really probably really bad . I would not doubt the Pelicans Organization had his other accounts suspended.
Kuzma going on the trade block. I'm thinking Jrue, JJ, two firsts, and NAW for Kuzma.
LOL could be sending Rondo back too
I'm going on way too little sleep from a great but chaotic Christmas to follow the story but it appears juicy.
Also, could be the delirium, but I thought I saw MM disagreeing with people civilly, the other day.
It's all meth round these parts.
But the story of the Kuzma rift IS funny and convoluted.
This is funny.
On Christmas day:
"Per Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated:
“During his first two seasons in Los Angeles, Kuzma missed the postseason and regularly dealt with trade rumors that he described as “annoying.” So, despite an uneven start to the season for him, he is enjoying being part of a championship-contending team.”"
And today:
"NBA Rumors: Kyle Kuzma Could Give Lakers ‘Best Chance’ To Land ‘Impact Player’ Via Trade, Per ‘The Ringer’"
LOLOL
If Rich Paul has his way Jrue Holiday will be a Laker. Tampering does not count for the Lakers or Lebron.
Nah. It was in a gameday thread. It was an actual honest to God civil discussion with common sense and reasonable discourse. I thought maybe he had been Scrooged or something.
Yeah, that's how I engage with normal people. Dumb people, I treat dumb. The poster, 13-3, for instance..... I mean how could I treat that poster like a normal person?
On the elite board, all discourse is civil since only quality posters are allowed. If you saw that, and then came to this board it would be like walking for a day outside of the cave and then coming back the next day to a cave with people shackled, looking at puppets reflecting upon a wall.
It's very disorienting
Sophisticated burn!
Well that was shortlived.
Funny how there is an elite board yet there is a giant gaping hole of actual inside providing writers in the area. I'd wager it's more a board of pretentious beatwannabe wankers that the franchise won't let near its players.
Exhibit A: MM
Dude has been writing on this team for like a decade and still has no connections. It's like watching a sad jobless weatherman post about the weather on his personal Facebook account.
And #ExtendGentry! Lol
My view on the elite board is that MM and his discussions of it always sound quite a lot like that loser in High School/Teen Drama film who insisted that he wasn't actually a loser, he has a super hot girlfriend that everyone would be jealous of, but they go to another school and you've never met them.
The board isnt writers. It's mostly guys who work in the league or have in the past.
Look, I get your guys POV. Why would you want to believe in it when you are safe in your little area as one of the smartest posters on a board full of dummies? No upside
I wanted to sneak my head out and see if maybe somebody fell through the cracks and landed here, but they haven't. Same idiotic talk as always. Greewe was the only intelligent poster I remember seeing on her but I see he hasn't been around lately.
Best of luck to all of you. You guys deserve each other and I deserve to get back to the elite
Dude just can't help himself. Sure he has an occasional good take on something but the board is much better overall when he isn't posting. Good riddance...
I'm a smart guy
Oh man.
MM.
Bruh. The fake elite board breaks me. That one just makes me feel for you a bit. Look. You had a good 15 min. People were chatting with you. It was all good. Then the next morning you relapsed some.
Just take a break. Maybe come back in a week or so and try the civil discourse. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone relapses when changing behaviors. If you show that you are making progress, we will support you.
When you come back, and you always do, just focus on positivity and pushing your ideas instead of putting down other people's ideas. After a week or so of that, people will embrace you. From seeing you in the gameday thread, I was ready to give you a chance. You got this. It's hard work and effort you CAN do this.
And you ARE a smart guy, pelifan.
Dude makes up a board and says it’s filled with former people in the league. It’s kind of weird but he may have some type of communication issue. It’s not normal to act like him. Of course, the one person who is a “good poster” isn’t here anymore. He’s living in a complete fantasy. He wants to be important so bad, but it’s clear that he isn’t that knowledgeable and thinks he is. It’s entertaining to read some of the things he says. He just says the exact opposite of what anyone says to try and prove a point. Even if he knows it’s wrong, he still tries to talk it up like it’s a known fact. If I can give anyone advice, it would be to not act like Michael McNamara.
When a pseudointellectual neanderthal has the nerve to call everyone else stupid- hah. Hope your failed potential isn’t keeping you awake at night Mikey boy.
Asperger's. Which they did away with....so it's really just considered high functioning autism, now. I used to think he was narcissistic personality disorder but he would make more of an effort to keep his fan base right off the cuff instead of straight up insulting them if that held true.....some of the signs point to a drug addiction but it's too consistent. But he definitely shows multiple signs of autism.
I work with a lot of adults and kids diagnosed with autism. I really do just feel bad and want to reach out to him, now.
But also, let's not let MM distract us from how bad this thread is aging. Lol
This is why, on page 4, PBG posted a thing basically saying ''this is why you keep your coach until the end of the season: we've looked good recently. How deep do we need to go in the playoffs to retain Gentry?''
and I said
It was true then, it's true now. Don't let yourself be fooled: Gentry hasn't suddenly figured out how to coach after more than 15 years in the job. We've just gotten healthy, had some good luck, and some injured opponents (Rockets tonight with no Harden, Westbrook, or Capela, Pacers last night with no Brogdon, Oladipo, for example).
Gonna be some croooooooow eating happening up in here.
Will keep refreshing periodically.
Serious question here.
If Gentry deserves praise for the improved defense over the last handful of games, which you seem to believe he does, then do you accept that he deserves the blame for the bottom 5 defense we've had up until this point in the season?
If not, why not? Why is it that we have to give him credit when things go well, but we aren't allowed to place any blame at his feet when things go badly?
The last few games will allow the Pels to do what was always going to be the best course of action here: "transition" Gentry into a front office/consultant role and hire the coach they want to lead this team for what is hopefully the next decade or more.
Don't you dare bad mouth my dude, again!
Because this is one of the youngest teams going into the season AND one of the teams with the least amount of continuity. Remember this isn't JUST a team with the most amount of player turnover we are also installing a new defensive coach's system. We also didn't have our defensive stalwart in Favors and are missing Zion who will eventually become an even better defense stalwart. We also played one of the hardest SoS during that time. We were destined to start with an abysmal defense.
This isn't anything new I'm saying. I've been preaching the lack of experience, lack of continuity, and missing defensive pieces the entire season. I've been posting the "calm down, folks" and "allow things to gel" stuff for months. I should be allowed a small bit of strutting as my forecast is coming true. Let me frolic a bit, man. Gah!
I don't believe in Gentry but I'm not worried in him stunting our young players growth. Giannis had Larry Drew and Jason Kidd. If the Pelicans are deadset on being competitive, Gentry is not that guy, but there's no rush imo. I dont want to miss out on the next Budenholzer to become available again. Would be good to see what's out there first unless you have some hot shot assistant that needs an opportunity to prove themselves.
That was why I qualified it with asking how far does he need to go in the post season to keep his job?
Seriously, would the conference final be enough? How about the finals? I get that these things are super unlikely but you never know what this team will look like with Zion. So again I ask, how far does Gentry need to go in the post season to keep his job?
I say if we can make it to the second round he stays.
Griff will probably tell you he stays no matter what unless we start tanking again. I think those days are behind us now barring injury. (knocks on wood :D)
At this point, if we could sneak into the 7th spot, which can happen, we would draw the Nuggets......who we seem to match up very well against. I see them falling to #3, though. And I don't see us reaching 6.
Maybe.....
The fact that we're young and inexperienced is one thing: I said to people before the season just as much as you did that even if we have the roster for a top 5 defense (which I think we do, at least on paper) it would take until at least Christmas before the defense started clicking before defense is something that relies heavily on chemistry and experience which takes time to develop.
That said, there is a tangible difference between a defense that is clearly not ready and underperforming, and a defense which is just badly put together in the first place. For the majority of the season, that's what we've had so far: a defense that just isn't constructed with any kind of consideration for the roster we actually have had. It's easy to say that Favors is out, so the defense is going to be bad. Sure. But do you not think that if you've designed your defensive scheme to absolutely require one single guy, without whom everything collapses, maybe your defensive strategy is not well adapted to the team overall?
Losing Favors was always going to make the defense take a hit. He's an elite defensive big. But should it be the difference between a top 5 defense and a bottom 5 defense? God no.
Like I said, we have people coming back from injury and we have an easier schedule from hereon out, and people are going to allow that fact to fool them, as if the first half of the year never happened and as if Gentry hasn't produced awful defensive teams for 4 of the last 5 years, and it's going to end up with Gentry getting kept on beyond this season.
Oh yeah I wasn't dissing you or anything, just referring to the conversation we'd had.
I think Gentry needs to go, frankly, regardless of how well we do this year (outside of something absolutely ridiculous, like finishing the year with a 30 game winstreak and winning the Finals, which I guess is technically possible but will almost certainly not happen). Gentry isn't a good coach, imo. He's a guy with a system, and if the system has the right players slotted into it, plus a little bit of luck, that system can win games. But it isn't versatile, it isn't adaptable, it isn't innovative anymore, it isn't creative or intimidating to anyone.
We have a very easy close to the year: our final 20 games are so are the closest NBA games get to being ''gimme'' games. We have a flawed roster, but it's one with talent on it, at least when everyone is healthy. You expect a strong finish, with that going on, pretty much regardless of who your coach is.
The thing to look for when regarding coaching hires is that you have to look past the raw W/L results and look at the process. Gentry's process is busted. So he's gotta go.
