Wouldn't be the first time a coach gets canned a year after getting an extension. Not uncommon at all.

Because he got caught up in the hype of Monty being the next great young coach in this league. We all got caught up in it which is the only reason I can figure out how their are still people on this forum that continue to support and defend his coaching. It's difficult because Monty is a good man and believe me I would love to see him have success here but I have been around this game long enough to know he is in way over his head. To all the people that defend Monty's coaching please give some substance to your position in the form reasoning? Where do you see his stong suits , is it managing a game, fundamentals, strategy, substitutions? Personally I am sick of this team sucking and would be happy seeing us at least heading in the right direction but it seems like unless Benson is ready to clean house and go find him a good proven GM and let him hire a proven quality NBA coach we will continue in this mess we have been subjected to for the last 4 or 5 years now.
Guys it isn’t going to happen anytime soon. There are many roads that lead to success, and you can argue till the cows come home about which one is shorted, or smoother or even the one with the prettier scenic view, but doesn't change the fact that you are not driving the car. Thankfully we have a solid front office that doesn't sway in the breeze.
Bump
How did this make it to the 3rd page?
lol @ page 43.
Rev up this train.
Fired Monty hire John Calipari
We have a team full of dumb players coached by a dumber coach and worse part it will be the same team next year Dell would never fire his friend Monty and just put the bad coaching on injuries.
I think we'll keep Monty and I don't think it will be much better next year either. Of course, I've said this many, many times before. We're just delaying the inevitable firing.
This horse has been beaten to a bloody pulp... but its too entertaining. Monty ain't going anywhere... not after THIS season anyway. The team he's playing with have about as much basketball brain matter as this banana/peanut butter smoothie I'm drinking, and when your highest/"best" player can't make a clutch free throw... you have threads like this. Never mind the royal screw job we got from the refs.

I'm officially on board.
I don't know Schmidt, but if Schmidt happens I hope it is some good Schmidt. Maybe we need Schmidt for brains. Then, if we can stop having such Schmidty luck with injuries, we might even make the playoffs....
Can we get Sean Payton and Rob Ryan as our coaches?
i think Keith Smart is the worst coach ever till i know Monty.
39 seconds left, with the ball, down 1 point, and we'd be throwing it in from the Bobcats' side of the court. I said to myself that if we don't take advantage of a 2 for 1 opportunity, that I would be on board for Monty being fired, as I'm sick of all of these blown 2 for 1 opportunities.
And what happens... A shot goes up with 24 seconds left. Now we have to foul since we missed the shot. Game basically over.
Easy to just say Fire a guy, but if we are stuck with him, here is a suggestion for his rotations:

Some small changes could go a long way IMO. He needs to get out of the 80's and 90's with his philosophies and look at the team Dell has assembled for him and use it properly.
You should send it to Monty.
Agreed. I don't think Davis needs 39 minutes per game either. Only one player in the league plays that much and it's Melo at 39.1. Just seems excessive. I'd like to at least split Steamer's minutes with Withey, and perhaps shave a couple minutes from Ajinca for Withey as well. Morrow could use a bit more than 13 minutes also. I really like the article though!
The thing is, that he might adapt to save his job but I don't think he would ever be fully on board. And if he isn't fully on board, eventually he will resort to his old ways. And I don't think Dell changes course and builds Monty the type of team that he would be good at coaching. So....
Garnett averaged 38.9 at the same age and if you take out the lockout season, had averages of 39.3, 40.0, 39.5, 39.2, 40.5, and 39.4 in the next six seasons. If you have a talent like that, and a drop off as big as the Pels do to the next guy, you gotta feed him heavy minutes at this age.
I'd argue that rivers does everything better than Roberts except in the shooting department. Same as tyreke compared to Gordon debate we had a few weeks ago. If Reke is the better player in that debate then rivers is the better player in this one. Can't work one way and not the other. Sorry I just don't see Roberts getting 35 min being our best way to win. No way no how. For every 2 pts he gets us. He will give up 6 on the other end. His scoring does not over compensate for his atrocious defense. Why do u think he gives us the better chance to win? I'm curious. Cause I think rivers defends MUCH better, he has better vision and can actually thread the needle on some passes when needed. Rivers spot up shooting is not all that bad either. The more I watch him play. The more I'm becoming a believer that this kid can and will be a starter for us one day in 3-4 years. I think he's gonna take a little longer than most rookies to get to that level but I truly believe he will get to a high level one day. He does have his moments where u wonder what he was thinking but that goes back to where I think it's just taking him a little longer to get it than most, but with that said. I say he is still a better option than Roberts at running the point at this very moment. Roberts on the other hand? I'm sorry but all he does is pound the air out the ball and has horrible vision. He misses pass after pass. I mean it was so bad the other night. I remember the entire arena screaming at him to make the wide open pass that he did make but not until the arena put him on notice. It was pretty embarrassing actually. He is a silky smooth spot up shooter and is pretty decent at the dribble pull up as well. Everything else tho...meh. He is not a pg in no way shape or form. He is a 2 guard and Monty is playing him out of position. IMO.
:hihi:
I'm on board.
Fire Monty.
The second this season ends, fire him and conduct an extensive search. First three guys I call are Shaka Smart, Fred Hoiberg, and David Fizdale. Pick the best one and let's move on.
Why was Roberts on Wall after the timeout coach?
http://i.imgur.com/vzBtRyL.gif
Leaving ROBERTS in to Cover Wall on last possession broke this camel's back ! JUST A TERIBLE DISPLAY OF SITUATIONAL COACHING ! um, I dont think EVANS had went to the locker room yet, heh ! PUTRID
:idoh::help::confused:
At the end of the half, we made MULTIPLE substitutions to fit the situation. However, in an endgame situation he leaves on of the worst on ball defenders on the floor with AR25 & 'Reke on the bench. No words and no explanation other than this being an game coating mistake. Unbelievable, and I too am starting to turn.
I'm on board. Tonight was too much. Fire Monty.
This I agree with! Dell brought in Jrue, Morrow, and Evans who are great players for a fast pace offense with AD (who is a big man that can run the court). Monty on the other hand wants a half court offense with Brian Roberts walking the ball down the court.
Never thought I'd see some of you in this thread...
