I don't see Houston trading Asik and parsons for anderson and miller. They are picking up more salary with RA and both players play a similar role. They need to move Asik, but he may be worth a pick, maybe future 1 in that package. I would take Asik, but we may be in play for Hortford b/c Atlanta is going to try and do that same restructure for DW.
I like Asik, but we need a center that can pick and roll or hit a jumper. If zeller was a full inch taller, he would be ideal b/c of his agility and shooting. But I have seen him go up against bigger centers and struggle.
Hoping CP comes back is about a 10% chance in my eyes. THink we have a chance if we put pieces around him, but I think we need to go in a different direction.
After watching GS in the playoffs, no way We get Klay for Gordon.
Not sure I would put RA in a trade b/c our bench would suffer hard.
I'd do it. You get two good starters for one. Ryan Anderson is a very good 3 point shooter and FT% along with being a decent rebounder, but he's not an elite player. Parsons & Asik are both better defenders than Ryan as well.
With that said, I don't see Houston doing this deal.
As Monty stated last year, "we need shooters" We need to continue drafting wisely and signing guys that have the potential of creating their own shot. Why would we trade D. Miller who is an up and coming player that has the potential to grow as an effective, offensive threat from deep who is still on his rookie contract? Why would we trade Ryno who is one of the best stretch 4's in the NBA who is on a very reasonable contract that doesn't destroy our salary cap? Now, I do like Chandler Parsons, but to include Asik's poison pill contract (PPP) in the deal would be insane on our part. I rather us continue to follow the model of drafting productive players and signing guys to reasonable contracts. I guarantee you even if Houston does get Dwight Howard their not going to win a championship next year. Book It! Lets not rush the process.
If Porter, McLemore, or Oladipo do not fall to us and Burke is still on the board. I would love if we could trade down with Utah(who really needs a point guard) for the 14th and 21st picks. Draft Shabazz if he is still there at 14 and if not take Dario Saric or KCP. Shabazz is growing on me more and more. I just like his drive to do whatever to become a better ball player. He doesn't disappear or take plays off. I think he will be like fellow #2 overall player coming our of high school the year before in Andre Drummond having a better pro year than college rookie year. Then at 21 take the BPA at hopefully the center or point guard position. Shane Larkin or Rudy Gobert would fit in that range. If we could trade down and get Shabazz and Gobert I'd be pumped. Let Gobert stay over seas for a year to get better, then come over down the road to be our starting center.
So in like 2015 this would be our championship winning team! lol
C: Gobert
PF: Davis / Ryno
SF: Bazz
SG: Gordon
PG: Rivers / Vasquez
I'm not a fan of trading Anderson at all. He is an elite shooter on a great contract, and he is a perfect locker room guy. Hard worker, real lunch pale guy who grabs offensive boards and does a lot of dirty work.
You can't or you won't ?
I disagree personally but I think it's fair; not great.
Why do you think it's fair? Parsons is easily better than Anderson. And adding Asik to the equation makes the trade extremely lopsided. There's nothing even about that trade.
Y'all just assuming that Houston wants to dump Asik.
ok well lets compare the 2, i'll write it up now, gimme a minute
Parsons is 24
Ryno is 25
Parsons contract: 800k
Anderson's contract: 8.5million
Per 36 stats:
Parsons: 15.4 PPG - 5.3 RPG - 3.5 APG - 48.6 FG% - 38.5 FG3%
Ryno: 18.8 PPG - 8 RPG - 1.4 APG - 42.3 FG% - 38.9 FG3%
From a value standpoint parsons is better and its not even close, from an overall standpoint ryno is better overall.
But I would take on a bad contract so we could get Parsons for the next 3 years at 800k a year lol.
a team of burke gordon parsons ad asik is a top 8 team in 2 years and will be good for awhile
or
a team of tyreke gordon parsons AD asik is a top 8 team next year and be good for awhile
or
a team of burke gordon wiggins/parker ryno ad is a top 4 team in 3 years for a very long time
Question: What is Anderson's current market value? In other words, how much money do you guys think Anderson would fetch annually?
But we only have Gordon locked up for 2 years and possibly 3. So how can that line up be a top 4 team in 3 years if Gordon walks at the end of his contract?
As far as the mentioned trade, yes I would do it. I love Ryno but that's a really good deal. Asik allows Davis to stay at PF and develop and he shores up C. He allows us to keep / move Lopez depending how much depth we need. And the value of Parsons can't be stated enough. All for basically just Ryno? Yes I would have to. Basically shore up two positions for only the cost of 1 player at our deepest spot.
Either what he's getting now (~$8m/yr) with a contender, or $9-10m/yr with a team like us. I think a lot of front offices thought he benefited significantly from Howard taking all the pressure off, but he pretty much maintained his efficiency and improved his overall numbers with Lopez next to him in a more prominent role with us. Parsons has possibly the best contract in the NBA (under $2m total over the next two seasons) whereas Ryno has a good, not great contract. He is still either a very valuable player or trade asset to us.
agreed, ryno was a gamble, im sure some GM's thought he was a product of howard and some didn't, we took the gamble and it paid off big time, sometimes those gambles workout and sometimes they don't, i think this is why dell is such a good GM in the scouting department, he has an eye for evaluating players and he's very good at it.
Well, Kevin Love is making the max, and he and Anderson are on the same level at everything except rebounding. And really, Anderson is arguably a better offensive rebounder than Love is. Anderson is the better shooter, defender, and he has a better overall offensive game IMO. Love is just a monster rebounder, which is his only advantage over Anderson. Also, Anderson doesn't come with all that diva baggage and injury concerns.
Is this a real question?
Say WHAT!?!?

I would say ryno is slightly and i mean the slightest bit better than parsons right now, but parsons is a year younger and plays a position of need at the SF, we have 2 PF's in ryno in AD. Who is better? i think ryno, who is better for us? parsons. but no way we get him without taking on a semi bad contract, which the rockets dont have a lot of besides lin, and if we traded for lin i'd kill myself. they do have 4 mil tied up in Trob though.
Anyways parsons at 24 would be the perfect SF next to people like gordon and burke
the "easily better" was tongue and cheek. But I like Parsons better due to his efficiency, passing ability, and cost. When you factor all of that together, I like Parsons a little better overall. Basically subjective. Both are really close in terms of impact and production.
If you guys had to pick either one to carry your team in a playoff elimination game, who would y'all pick?
If you need either Ryno or Parsons to "carry" your playoff team, then you're already finished. Ryno can obviously have the largest impact as he can get ridiculously hot from 3 (Parsons is no slouch in that area either), but Parsons is still probably the (slightly) better overall player. He's a better defender and can give you more when he's cold shooting the ball.
Not even close. Love has a much better offensive game in the paint. He put up 26/13 last year. Ryno will never come close to those numbers. Love can't shoot the 3 as well as Ryno, but he also isn't relegated to roaming around behind the arc like Ryno pretty much is. Neither is a good defender, but Love probably has the best offensive game of any big man in the NBA.
parsons isnt slightly better than ryno, its the opposite, ryno is slightly better, parsons shoots a higher percentage but ryno is the better scorer, rebounder and 3pt shooter, and i wouldnt say parsons is the better defender, i think ryno is just as good at defending power forwards as parsons is as guarding SF's. Like I said ryno is slightly better, but for a value standpoint its parsons. now if both were at the same price i'd take ryno all day as far as better overall player, we just happen to have 2 really good power forwards and really need a SF
kevin love is better offensively than ryno, love takes 4 more shots a game and has a higher FG%. Love is also twice the rebounder ryno is. As far as defense goes I would say ryno is the better defender.
This.
Oh my! There are homers and then there is nolaslim213. Just wow!
This year in the play-offs Parsons averaged 18 pts, 6.5 reb and 4 ast. Ryno **** the bed big time in PO in 2011 and 2012.
I know none of you actually bothered to look at the numbers, so I'll do it for you. These are the averages from their two best seasons (10-11 and 11-12) - Love barely played last year due to injury, so I'll throw it out to help his numbers look better, otherwise Anderson would CRUSH him.
Kevin Love - PER of 24.8, TS% .580, eFG% of .505, ORB% of 12.7, TRB% of 21.5, AST% of 11.0, STL% of 1.0, BLK% of 0.9, TO% 10.1, USG% of 25.5, ORtg of 120, DRtg of 106, and WS/48 of .216.
Ryan Anderson - PER of 20.3, TS% .590, eFG% of .552, ORB% of 12.1, TRB% of 14.1, AST% of 5.5, STL% of 1.3, BLK% of 1.5, TO% 7.0, USG% of 20.9, ORtg of 123, DRtg of 104, and WS/48 of .218.
So, as you can see, Anderson nudges out Love in 9 of the 13 categories, and he is a lot closer to Love in terms of offensive rebounding than people think. They are both elite, but Love is the much better defensive rebounder. Anderson is obviously the better shooter, and he can put the ball on the floor. And people say Anderson doesn't have a post game, but he really does. It's just not traditional. He does it on the move, but he has some crazy old-school post moves.
cant go by just stats though, for most of love's career he has been going against the opposing teams top post defender, not so much for ryan anderson
