Yeah, gotta keep it milquetoast around here. We wouldn't want fans to actually get excited. This team is going nowhere with this leadership. The owner is a golddigger who knows nothing about business or basketball. Doomed for the foreseeable future.

You guys think the Hawks want to pair BI and Risacher? I don't know much about the kid. Some draft profiles I read make it sound like they would pair well together and other ones make me think they're redundant.
Lakers did not draft Bronny? Lol
In a random year, maybe, but when you can actually look at the teams in question and make a judgement based on the reality of the rosters of those teams instead of looking at historical trends that don't apply to the actual state of the league right now, it's fairly clear to see that running it back without improvement on this roster is not a recipe for success.
We'll win 45 to 50 games, again, as long as we can get a decent JV replacement, and not improve in terms of the seedings. That's just how it is.

That's another one of the better options off the board.
We finished 3 games from 10th. You're acting like there's a lot of wiggle room here and there isn't. Yes, we could easily have been better if a few bits of bad luck went our way, but we could easily have been worse too. We were not some stable quantity throughout the year like OKC or Denver or Minnesota.
Forgive me for wanting the team to be a lock instead of a ''well, if everything goes right and some other teams have issues, we could potentially get there'' situation.

Genuinely considering not bothering to watch the rest of the draft after our inevitable boring Missi pick.
This draft night has been one of the least interesting, slowest, most ponderous draft nights I can remember.
We were solidly in third or so before the injuries crept in. We were coming hard on the Lakers and scaring the league before Zion dropped out in the play in. All under the age of 26 except for CJ and Nance so we will be better.
The truth is that this is a top three team when healthy. When healthy. It doesn't matter who we draft or if Zion is paired with BI, Young, Murray, Mitchell, or some other superstar......it's ALL going to come down to if he and whomever he is paired with can be healthy for the postseason.
And haha. I made you agree with 13-3. I win!
And yet we have no reason to believe that will be the case because you're having to use the ''when injury crept in'' caveat about our healthiest season of the last 5 years lmao
This team needs a serious modification if it wants to be a stable winning with actual championship aspirations. I simply do not believe, however, that those aspirations exist in the FO or ownership.

Missi it is
We're up. Collier is best player available, but we've been attached to Missi in talks for ages.
DaRon Holmes would be an interesting option as well.
New Orleans is selecting Yves Missi at No. 21 in the NBA Draft, sources say. Pelicans were zeroed in on the 7-footer from Baylor and fill a center need. https://t.co/1u2Qcjqzbo

And yeah, Missi it is.
He's fine. Big, explosive athlete with good hands. Sets good screens. Finishes with authority. Reliable simple decision maker. Pretty raw everywhere else.
Pick is done at least
Good pick. I like it.
Bye bye Larry Nance
Capela/Okungwu out of any trade talks
is this another jax hayes?
What? Jonas is gone. We still need LNJ unless it?s included in a trade.
I don't think he's exactly the same (he's much more powerfully built, much more willing to accept contact and to screen) but in terms of it being another tall athletic centre who needs to polish his skills because he hasn't played basketball that long? Yeah, kinda.
I doubt it.
I honestly don't think we'll move Ingram. I know there's a ton of smoke, but I really just don't trust Griff to make the right move.
If we did move him, I don't think Missi would be included - we've got big gaps at C and it's not an easy gap to fill. At least with Missi on the roster we only need 1 big instead of 2.
As with the Hawkins pick, I am completely open minded and rooting for it to work. Once again, I don't have an issue the the 'fit' aspect of things, but IMO the process is not one I personally agree with.

Missi has legit athleticism, I'm hoping Pels get a guard to take advantage
Live look at Zion

If the Pels are committed to this direction though, we absolutely now need someone capable of throwing lobs and playing PnR ball handler willingly and with a shooting threat.
I can think of an obvious such individual, but I am sceptical of Griff's willingness to do what needs to be done.
Yves Missi thread now up
Ingram is still a Pelican. Griff. Trolled us.
If you are keeping BI, you have to get somebody to run the team. CJ cannot be in the starting lineup with those two for 82 games. Point Zion is fine but you have to have a legitimate backup plan and CJ is not that. It is what it is, but for the love of all that is holy address these things. Even if it is a cheap option. Do not keep up the square peg round hole nonsense.

Our media is afraid to ask the Trae question? C’Mon Fletcher , someone?
Griff says: ''In general terms we've talked about needing to get better and we're going to be aggressive. We didn't come in thinking that the way were going to get better in the frontcourt was around Yves or around the Sidelines. We're going to be fairly aggressive and continue to do that throughout the offseason. It's interesting, everybody thinks things have to be done by the draft or July 6th. Your roster's not set until training camp, and even then it's not, and we're going to look to cash in on the right people at the right time.''
Asked about BI, Griff says he ''wouldn't get into that right now.'' He does note that ''Brandon wants to stay here but there is a financial reality that we all deal with, we're excited about Brandon and he's excited about us and those usually yield good results.''
When asked about guard play by Shamit.
Shamit also asks about other lessons learned from the playoffs.
Bryson Graham says we need to develop more rim pressure - says that can be from a diving big who pressures the paint.
Griff mentions that ''we need to be aggressive'' because ''there are other teams who were behind us who are only getting better''.
He says ''we're doing this to win at the highest level and you don't do that without being aggressive''.
Asked about when to push the chips in and whether we need to be a homecourt team first, Griff says that ''that would make it easier but that doesn't mean you wait.''
He also says that Mrs Benson isn't restricting them financially but that they ''have to be right'' because they ''can't be an apron team''. Which is interesting.
Brian Windhorst: It would not surprise me if they are active in the trade market into July looking to add a starting center... Let's see where the Pelicans are two weeks from now and whether Brandon Ingram is on the team and whether they have acquired their center. pic.twitter.com/hwIFVbszsr
