To clarify, taken from the a British National Healthcare Service website:Quote:
The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that guard CJ McCollum has been diagnosed with small pneumothorax in his right lung after medical imaging was taken this morning. Additional examination will be performed in the next 48 hours to determine the progress of healing. More information will be provided following examination.
While obviously the specifics of CJ's case may vary from the guidelines given there to the general public, and the description given as small indicates it may be a relatively quick recovery, we as a fanbase shouldn't be surprised if CJ has to miss some time - possibly as long as a month.Quote:
A pneumothorax is also known as a collapsed lung. It is a condition when air has leaked out from the lung in to the chest cavity and chest wall. This causes the lung to collapse down and peel away from the inside of the chest. [...] a small pneumothorax may not need any treatment. In this case the lung heals itself and gradually reabsorbs the air that has leaked out.
This generally takes 1 ? 2 weeks. [...] We ask you to avoid strenuous exercise and lifting heavy objects for at least 4 weeks.
This is, I think it is fair to say, not good.
Hope he recovers soon and feels better. Collapsed lung may not be quite as serious as it sounds in this particular instance but it's still not good.
