Most people don't actually read the paper. Just the Headlines. That simply means that no matter the story we write of why we are the Rebels, people will just think its a bunch of robe wearing white southern people trying to get one on everybody else. Not saying it's fair, but fairly accurate of how Outside the Lines would spin it.

However " New Orleans Battle" would be neat with cannons as a symbol and the Jackson square logos on the side of the shorts would be cool.

Uh, NO. That name has to much baggage. Bad memories.

Right. He was all of 9 years old when the Declaration of Independence was written.

I mean sure he was a courier (per Wikipedia), but I think you know that you're stretching it.

I love the idea of using Jackson as within the logo/branding, but he wasn't a "Rebel."
Guys I know about the Civil War aspect, what I meant is people don't care as much anymore. It's not like they'd use a rebal flag logo
    Wherehappens.

    Andrew Jackson was a rebel?

Seems like the rebranding thread has plateaued. I don't hate the Knights, Pilots, Dukes, or Rebels, but neither of these names are as epic as Arcangels.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

Epic: most overused/misused word in America today.

Since the rebrand thread has stalled, let's go through this again starting with NOLA icons and potential names associated with them.

Jazz: Brass, Rhythm, Blues. Jazz is taken.

Mardi Gras: Krewe, Revelers, Carnival. Mardi Gras itself wouldn't make a good name.

VooDoo: Magic, Spirit. VooDoo is also currently used.

Crescent City: Moon, Crescent, Nights, Lunars, Arcangels (epic)

Big Easy: Free, Royal (old definition), Smooth, Light

Historic: Rebels, Dukes, Regents, Privateers, Battle, French, Creole, Bourbons

    Louisiana: Bayou, Gators, Cajuns

    This is just a start.

The Honeybee is North Carolina's state insect as well. Actually, I think it's the state insect for quite a few states.

The state amphibian is the green tree frog. Choosing that as our mascot makes about as much sense. The ONLY thing that makes complete sense in the Dukes. As always, hope this helps.

I think we should just go back to Bucs. Or if you dont like that because of Tampa Bay, use Pirates. Update that old ABA logo and colors.
