    Hawks-Hornets Beyond the Box Score

Ugly performance last night. Also, can we not have Aminu and Ariza on the floor together anymore? That destroys any offense, especially ours.

    Offensive Rating

    Ayon - 123
    Okafor - 112
    Vasquez - 108
    Jack - 105
    Henry - 104 (6 minutes)
    Squeaky - 102 (5 minutes)
    Ariza - 90
    Summers - 71
    Marco - 69
    Smith - 68
    Aminu - 67
    Landry - 0 (yes, that's right, a ZERO!)

    Defensive Rating

    Summers - 106
    Okafor - 107
    Landry -108
    Ayon - 109
    Smith - 112
    Ariza - 112
    Aminu - 113
    Marco - 113
    Henry - 117
    Vasquez - 120
    Jack - 122
    Squeaky - 124

No one was particularly good on defense, but our PGs were brutal. Our wings weren't too much better. The frontcourt did better they weren't good either. Just a bad night.

Current numbers for the season. Offensive/Defensive Ratings, Win Shares for the season, Win Shares per 48 minutes

    Aminu - 90/102, 0.3, .033
    Ariza - 96/101, 0.5, .066
    Ayon - 119/95, 0.7, .220
    Marco - 95/106, 0.4, .030
    Gordon - 96/100, 0.1, .084
    Henry - 78/112, -0.1, -.099
    Jack - 109/106, 2.0, .140
    Squeaky - 84/105, 0.0, -.025
    Landry - 107/106, 1.4, .125
    Okafor - 104/100, 1.4, .114
    Smith - 99/101, 0.6, .090
    Summers - 95/105, 0.1, .040
    Greivis - 92/102, 0.3, .040

Offensive Rating - 98.0 (25th in the league)
Defensive Rating - 102.8 (18th in the league)

    Expected W/L - 7-13 (24th out of 30)

I guess I could always add more advanced stats to it like usage, total shooting %, etc.

It would have been fun doing this during the 2007-2008 season or the current Heat team, well mainly Lebron and Bosh. Lebron's rating is 118/97 while Bosh is 113/98.

And it should be fun here next year or the year after too.

Maybe around All-Star break, we can get things like oreb%, dreb%, assisted% (percentage of shots a player takes that are assisted; not sure if this is normally kept track of). Basically, more specific things we can then piece together to really have a good handle on how our guys played instead of just what the results were. I can help, if need be.

Ayon has consistently done well in these things. How much more does he have to do before he gets to start?

He still seems unsure on where to be on defense. His on-man defense is good and he is pretty decent at help, but is still not comfortable with rotations. He has similar but much smaller problems on offense. I think his minutes will start going up in the next couple weeks as he becomes more familiar with system and language. Similar to how Aminu got very little at first but is now seeing consistent minutes.
