Rumor Pelicans Exploring Move to Land No. 2 Pick, Draft RJ Barrett

    https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...aft-rj-barrett

Not 100% sure if I'll like this move. I'm high on Barrett, but the cost to move up two spots could be ransom.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Pelicans have "had internal talks about moving up to the second pick" leading up to Thursday's draft.

    Not a fan of that.

I’m down as long as we don’t move Holiday

I don't get good vibes from Ja, TBH. Something about Harden and Westbrook smacks of "I'll be a great player but will never win a championship". Ja has that for me. I'm cool trading exLakers and picks for RJ. Not Jrue.
    Good positive energy.

    But also, yo mama's fat.

ok - but he says "an NBA source" says we've "internally explored the idea" of moving up to 2 and admits it's unlikely.

He is which concerns me. I feel like they would want Jrue. Which might make sense about the Jrue deleting all his IG photos... this last part is total speculation on my part!!

I am not high on Barrett. At all! I’m on the side of keeping things the way they are and marking after next season to fill gaps.

that's why it's a rumor, and which means, it is unlikely.

If you're Memphis, do you want Jrue or do you want younger assets to build on?

And again, this report CLEARLY states the Pels entertained it, not that Memphis flirted back with them or even that they contacted Memphis. But if I'm the Grizzlies, Jrue only makes us a middling team. I'd rather get a young exLaker and picks.

Depends on the price but I like him a lot.

I said if we could come out of the AD trade with either RJ or Tatum and other assets I would be thrilled.

You can throw Beal in that category as well but I would prefer younger players closer to Zion's timeline.

    Do it David!

Maybe we tried to not hurt Minn feelings when came to us about trading Wiggins. Lol

I think the important thing about this report is the word "internal"... I would think they would be discussing numerous possibilities...
"we might make dollars, but we don't necessarily make sense"

"always be sincere....whether you mean it or not"

Probably just a ruse to provoke PHX or Washington into doing something crazy, like giving us pick swaps or something like that.

    This is Kuzma 2.0

Griffin doesn't actually want to take Barrett nor move up to number 2...

The man is a pure master at this game.

I would trade Jrue Holiday, Solo Hill, Etwaun Moore, & #4 pick or the #2 pick(RJ) and Chandler Parsons.

Then sign DLo Russell if the Nets sign Kyrie. Nah I’ll roll with Ball till 2021. If not then don’t sign no big contracts for a couple seasons and wait till 2021 to sign Dame Lillard after he’s tired of Portland. Hopefully we land a top pick next year to get a center since our team will be really young. If Zion & RJ are as good as I think they will be, Dame might jump to sign with us.

    PF: Zion
    SF: Ingram
    SG: Barrett
    PG: Lillard in 2021

I don’t care who my center is with that team.

This. I suspect any rumor suggesting what Griffin wants is actually a smokescreen designed to generate interest in a particular player or pick. This one could simply be designed as a message to Phoenix, Chicago and Atlanta that there are more things the Pelicans can do with #4 than trade back.

Curious that they say Barrett. Could this just be about getting Barrett to come in for a workout?

At the most that’s all this is no way we move up for Barrett not at 2

It could. It could be that Griffin pointed out that if you (Memphis) are hesitant at all about Morant, you can move back to #4 and still be in position to take either Morant or Garland while picking up assets from us. There is a logical scenario. I still think it’s more likely a smokescreen designed to make other teams commit to trading for #4.
