Thread: Ben McLemore

    Draft Ben McLemore

McLemlore's stock is dropping after some workouts in which he appeared "out of shape." This could help confirm GMs' concerns about his lack of a killer instinct and just settling for being picked.

Would absolutely love getting McLemore at 6.

He wasn't in our radar anyway. Was he? He doesn't look out of shape in that pic though.

I might tear up because he could potentially be a friggin' steal for us at 6.

He's that good? This board is so high on him. I might be underrating the guy.

He's athletic and can shoot. He's like Jeremy Lamb in that he doesn't have the killer instinct.

Looking it doesn't mean he's not out of shape. Basketball shape is tough to stay in.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

this would be a dream come true, jeff teague and ben mclemore, then find a decent trade for gordon we would be able to sign iggy too

If he drops it will be Kawaii Leonard, Danny Granger-esq. I would hope that we would have the common sense to draft him if he is there.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

if both are available, which won't happen, who would u take mclemore or porter?

  12. #12
McLemore every day and twice on Sunday. Then move Gordon for a SF and we have our core.

I would even trade Gordon for Porter and a 2nd. And go from there.

In three years our starting lineup:

    Rivers
    McLemore
    Porter
    Anderson
    Davis

That's a tough one, but I would take McLemore. Porter makes more sense, but McLemore is my favorite player in the draft. Thought Eric Gordon had a problem with the Austin Rivers pick. Imagine what he would say if we took McLemore. I would love it. Then turn around and trade Gordon. If not, could Gordon make the move to be our starting point guard?

He could be Finals Danny Green with a little better handle.

e: Basically, an off-ball guy that can shoot the rock. Just don't expect him to do well when creating for himself or others.

Now imagine gordon's 15 million in cap space with our already available 17 million in cap space, 32 million is fun to play with.

when they interviewed mclemore, the analyst says, "a lot of people compare you to ray allen, your thoughts?" mclemore says, "well i think I'm more athletic than him"....thats all you need to know

You need a partner to play with. Cap space means nothing otherwise.

Will say it again, they can draft a SG but that doesn't mean get rid of Gordon right away. Would be a HUGE mistake. One this front office will not make because they are tired of depending on youth.

The way Dell has been talking about "need" so much, they'd probably pass on him.

Yeah more likely they use BM as a bench scorer and let him get experience that way. He could bust some HEADS off the bench. Let Rivers try and win the PG position, and it could be a fun year.
    Wherehappens.

With how week this class is, I still doubt he falls to 6. However, it's certainly a concern. You're working out to try to be a top 3 pick in the NBA Draft and yet you're out of shape?

That's now technically three knocks on Ben McLemore - lack of killer instinct, out of shape, and he's a year older than you would think. You can't compare him to true freshmen because he was really a freshman last year, he just didn't play.

I'm reminded of the reports of Greg Oden being out of shape during his workout with Portland, yet he still went number 1. By the way, their GM was quoted as saying Kevin Durant had the most impressive workout he'd ever seen. SF was their biggest need that year too.

I'd add his inability to create his own shot. That hurts more than his age IMO.

I was his biggest fan, but his disappearence in big moments and recent reports about him not being in shape and playing terrible confirms he lacks mental strength and true passion and may give us problems in the future. I wish the would just notice his damn potential ...it really frustrate me to see players with massive potential don't give a **** about it.

Ill pass on another JuJu. I wish the best for him though, but can we find a SG with a "heart"?

That's harsh. McLemore is still very young. Paul George came into the league and was extremely gun shy. Look at him now. It takes some guys longer to grasp that leadership role especially in the situation that he was in. While he may have been the most talented player on that team, but he was also on a team with 3 Seniors in that starting lineup who was in the championship game last season. It simply wasn't his team yet.

I gotta say, listening to him talk. He doesn't sound like the sharpest tool in the shed. But watching him play, the only flaw in his game is that he's so passive. But defensively he has as much potential to be a great defender as Oladipo.

I've seen him pull up off the dribble, cut back door. He's very solid. Only other deficiency is he doens't really create his own offense. Doubt he's there for us anyway.
