I can't think of one other player on any of the other 29 teams getting paid this much money at this age that wouldn't be in a similar press release.

Probably nothing if not a mis-step by the PR department, or completely on purpose. Makes you wonder though, if they trade him, who do we draft?
Dipo? Guess it depends on who you get for him, but if we don't get another 2 in the trade we've got exactly 0 SG's worth a crawfish's butt on this team.
Wherehappens.
Probably reading too much into it.
However, after hearing about the Clippers/Celtics talk this weekend and that Paul Pierce would somehow wind up with the Clippers if that goes through, I couldn't help but think about the Gordon to Boston for Avery Bradley & Paul Pierce (and then released for his $5m buyout).
Although I believe Boston has until June 30th for the buyout while Gordon has control over who he's traded to until some time in July.
And even if they don't, none of those guys are both a max player and heading into their prime. I can't think of one guy who is this age and at this point of his career, getting paid this much that wouldn't be a part of a similar press release.
It doesn't mean everything. But it means something.
It certainly doesn't mean nothing.
I had a Twitter follower that brought up a name that was close - DeAndre Jordan, especially after the recent speculation.
But still, he is not a max guy and not a guy that anybody has ever said was that teams best player or potential perennial All-Star.
Just weird.
It's not weird..but its not without forethought. Eric Gordon has a sketchy Hornet-Pelican history. Look at the reaction he invokes among us diehards. Is it a stretch to say that to the casual NOLA fan he is either, at best, a complete unknown or, at worst, a reminder of the CP trade and a failure? Not a great way to motivate people. Best just to not touch it..if you are designing something to generate a positive emotional response.
I'm really hoping this means he's getting traded in the near future. Finger crossed.
I personally believe that if you went up to Dell Demps and injected truth serum and said, "I will list the following players, tell me the odds you still think they are still on the team in three years" , he would answer:
AD- 100%
Rivers- 80%
Anderson - 50%
Smith - 50%
Vasquez- 20% (as a bench player)
Gordon - 0%
Not saying this press release says we are trading him this week or even this summer, I just think they know Gordon isn't here long term. He's not a core member
My stance with the Gordon situation for some time now has been, he'll either be here, or he won't. Him staying won't phase me, him getting traded won't phase me. It is what it is. He is what he is. But, I guess while he's still listed as being on the team, (and whether he's listed in that comment or not, he IS still on the team, today) he's good for a few pages thread.
Rule number one, keep your phasers on stun.
I literally gave up on Gordon at the start of last season. After a whole offseason of waiting and talking about how he'd have a breakout year after spending the 8 game season resting and not going to the Olympics and all that. I'm like "Yeah, this'll be the year." Then the season starts and Gordon is suddenly out indefinitely.
Never again.
"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

If Eric Gordon was included, I think the fanbase would go ape****. Is it suspicious? Sure, but im not going to look too much into it. Maybe they are just telling the fanbase what they want to hear until Gordon either balls out or leaves by trade. If he plays well, people will forget all about this honestly.
I think this is much ado about almost nothing
never assume
Please don't give him up for nothing, that's all I ask. I know he's injury prone but he still a damn good player when healthy AND motivated. We saw that after Monty fussed at him at the end of the year. He played better the rest of the way.
I think where there's smoke, there's fire. Burke not noting Gordon either isn't by itself proof of anything, but it's additional evidence when coupled with this stuff - he and Demps likely didn't spend much time, if any, discussing how he'd fit with Gordon vs. Vasquez and Davis.
