It just sounds like going by the tapes, whoever made the statement doesn't think his footspeed is faster than Vasquez. I'm thinking they are talking about Burke on the drive to the basket. He doesn't look particularly fats getting to the basket and I think this is where the skepticism is coming from. With that last comment, it seems they will be looking for answers about his footspeed at the workout.

Pelicans first draft workout will be next Friday June 14th and it is an individual...College basketball player of the year Trey Burke

It is clear what the game plan is...Saric #1 on the board PG improvement #2 and Center #3

This is the word on Alex Len "His highlight tape looks great but in games he looked stiff and am not sure he will be better than Robin"

This is the word on Burke "he isn't faster, more athletic or a better shooter than Greivis, but if he is he could give us options"
    Another thing to add...

We've been hearing that the Pelicans want to draft for need. And they've been consistently saying this for the past couple of weeks. This is in line with what the team has been saying. 1. SF, 2. PG, 3. Center.

I'm definitely buying this and I'm not sure how this plays out but it's definitely the most sense that someone has said.

I didn't know Euro league games came on TV here in the states, cause I don't know how you guys know for sure that Dario Saric isn't worth the 6th pick. If it's cause of mock drafts and what the media think, I think you can be surely mistaken. Many Euro players that were not rated that high would of went a lot higher had people knew more about them. Tony Parker and Manu could of went a lot higher, but the teams didn't know what the smart Spurs knew. People thought Dallas was crazy taking Dirk so high and he turned out to be quite a player. Now the ones that scare me seem to be the ones that are rated super high, cause they seem to be the ones that fail. Darko, Vesely, Bargnani, Jianlian were all rated as top picks and all have been pretty disappointing. I would rather take a known commodity at 6 though as well, but if Dell thinks Dario is worth the 6th pick I won't deem it as a dumb/bad pick at all. Like people said above, I would love if we could get Burke & Saric or Len/Zeller & Saric. I still don't think Burke will be the pick unless he really wows them at his workout. If we do take Burke then I would believe we have a deal to send Vasquez somewhere for a later or pick of player.

After some more research. This is Demps second time scouting Saric Personally. He visited Saric late last year and Demps has ties to Cibona as a player. He's very familiar with the Adriatic league and has probably been watching for some time now.

The ones that became "hits" were drafted later (i.e. lower risk) and worked with solid organizations. I think the fact that these guys were so good translated into an overvaluing of international players. How many international players have been taken since then that have become stars? I think if we were in the 10-20 range, Dario might be worth the risk if Demps saw something in him. At 6, it seems high to take that risk.

The other teams interested in Saric (Dallas, Portland, 76ers) are lottery teams, starting with pick 10. So to get him, there's a high probability you'd probably just have to take him at 6 (unless there were a small deal ending with us at 7-9 for the taking).

Anyway, I'm not sure why people think it's so crazy. A lot of mock drafts have Saric going deep into the first, yet all the reported heavy interest in him is from lottery teams. I think there's a disconnect between fan perception and where NBA scouts and GMs actually have him slotted.

And the reason is obvious, fans like us haven't seen anything from him. International ball doesn't play here unless it's Team USA related.

With Saric saying he will be playing in Europe next year, and may even pull his name from the draft, how much of this is even worth talking about?

It happens every year around this time. The media have an idea of who they believe are the best players and during the workout weeks leading to the draft their boards begin to flip upside down and completely change by the day of the draft. Who would have thought Jones III and Sullinger would be late 1st round picks? They were bonafide lottery picks for most of the year.

If his agent gets the vibe that he will be a lottery pick, no way he pulls out of the draft. Also, I like the idea of him playing one more year in Europe. Gives him more seasoning, and us another year of his rookie contract when he comes over the following year. Or possibly even two years. We're not making a big push anyway, so if we think he's going to be that good, stash him for a bit. I'm ok with it.

Teams in our position don't stash, especially for a project.

Minnesota (#9) is looking to move up for Oladipo but it doesn't look like he'll be around at 6 anymore

i just hope mclemore or oladipo falls so we could take them, trade gordon for a decent center and hope to land a good SF in next years draft, done.

If the team feels like he is the best option I could definitely see it happening.

This, I think Bazz is a perfect fit for this team just think of Bazz getting all the open looks Aminu passed on. And as uncle Drew like to say this game has always been about getting buckets and that is what Bazz can do.

I'm sure that's an assessment based on lots of game film.

I don't get warm fuzzys watching saric. How big is he ? He seemed really slow.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Very skilled. But yeah. Won't help. Doesn't look like he does well with contact either. Rapidly finding myself uninterested unless we acquire a 2nd pick at some point.
