Other than taking on the picks salary what would we have to give that team?
They can sell their pick, i believe the price is 3 million +.

Yea...like wait what? I liked it for the simple fact Burke was available at 6.

Draft Caldwell-Pope, or Rudy Gobert in a move reminiscent of Waiters last year. Buy Dallas' pick and draft Caldwell-Pope or Rudy Gobert with the 13 pick.

I'm definitely disappointed we dropped to 6, but it isn't the end of the world. Hopefully someone in front of us will take Bennett or maybe Len which means one (or two) of the top five guys would fall to us.

Otherwise I guess it is going to be Shabazz, Len, Saric, Zeller, CJ McCollum or MCW. Any of those would be solid pieces, just not as good as the top five.

So in other words if Dallas do sell their pick 13 we would be over paying at 3M?
Would it beocme a bidding war if other teams are interested.....like when a player has been amnestied?

Also I assume that 3M doesn't go against the cap and only what the player at 13 would normally get?

    Thanks

Ok... I haven't had time to see if it's already been discussed, but why couldn't Bennett play the 3? Seems quick for that stature, and he'd be more of a nightmare for the opposing 3 as far as i can see.

If CLE did surprise everyone and take Porter number one, I wonder who ORL would choose out of Noel, Burke and McLemore.

If Anthony Bennett is still on the board at 6 and we feel AD will be our future Center, I think that pick should be a no brainer. When all said and done I believe Bennett will be the best player out of this draft class.

I think Magic will take Burke how old is Jameer?

How about the Cavs reps at the lottery being stupidly obnoxious? I think that slot, in this draft, is a burden, not a blessing. Your best bet is to reach rather than take Noel, IMO.

rumor mill's already spinning w/ who may be looking to trade

1 said Cavs go into a win now mentality... guessing that implies using the 1 pick as bait for a superstar

another says Mavs move out of 13 to save $$$ for a run at D-Ho

    New Orleans Pelicans @PelicansNBA
Reactions from #Pelicans players and coaches on picking 6th in the 2013 Draft: on.nba.com/192PmwU
    http://www.nba.com/pelicans/news/pel...lottery-quotes

Monty Williams....On how he felt about falling to the number six pick in the draft…
“I’m a little surprised, but I’m not disappointed by the sixth pick. It’s still a high pick. There are a lot of quality guys that will be available, a lot of rotation guys. We feel good about the pick. It’s only going to add to the young core that we have. I feel like we’ll be able to find a rotation guy that will be on our team for a long time.”
    Demps..

What the team can do with the sixth pick…
“We think it’s a deep draft and we’ll be able to add a contributor. We think that it could be a different type of guy. It could be a guy that’s ready to play right away or it could be a developmental type guy. Monty (Williams) and I will sit down and evaluate every option that we have.”

On the possibility of a trade…
“We are going to look at every opportunity to make our team a better team. So that is a possibility.”

ill def buy the mavs pick and take someone like kaldwell pope or saric at 13!

  16. #541
can anyone explain to me exactly what a rotation guy is? someone of the bench? a starter than can play more than 1 position?

  17. #542
if we can land oladipo or mclemore at 6 and buy the mavs pick and land saric i'd do backflips.

A player that will get consistent meaningful minutes every game either starting or coming off bench.

Well as we sit now either oladipo or Bennett will be there when we pick. That's IF Noel,Burke, mclemore, porter are gone. Then Phoenix taking either of those 2 leaves the odd man out. Which is fine with me. We will not pass on Bennett if those 5 guys r gone IMO. I'd actually be ecstatic to grab Bennett at 6 if the chips fell that way. Likewise with oladipo. I would bet a nice chunk of cash that these 5-6 guys don't go first tho. It never pans out like that. 1 team atleast will make a surprise pick. Like Alex Len, shabazz or gobert. Maybe even McW. Who knows.

    Austin Rivers.

    I'm on the Zeller train.

Faster than Oladipo at the combine, the highest vert of any bigman in recent memory, best agility time, and he's a terrific offensive player.

6'11" wingspan is a bit low but it's not bad or anything, and we have our rim-protector in Anthony Davis. A super athletic, offensively minded 7 foot center next to him sounds great to me.
