Shane Larkin will be a better then Trey Burke

Trey Burke has be the man crush for Pelicans fan all season I challenge that notice by saying Shane Larkin will be the Best PG in the draft in 2 year. His upside along with his unlimited . Burke's upside is closer to Jameer Nelson a good PG for 10 years but nothing special. Larkin could be a better decision making vision of Russell Westbrook with his speed. With this new NBA you need a fast PG.

You need smart PG's. And Trey has speed he tested on John Wall level in 3/4 sprint. Basketball is a game of skill more than just raw athletics and the PG position is more about having a high IQ than being an elite athlete. Larkin's may end up as a solid player in this league, but it won't be because he has a 44' vert or a sub 3sec 3/4 speed.

Disagree. Burke and Shroeder will both we better than larkin.

In-game athleticism is what matters, not combine testing. Larkin has speed, but not more than JJ Barea or Isaiah Thomas. However he is close to Burke. Both players have an elite fluidity and feel for the game and play like they can sense the game a speed slower than everyone else. Despite size and athletic limitations, the ballhandling of both helps them make plays getting to the basket. The reason I like Burke more other than his extra size, is he's a more trustworthy shooter than Larkin. Both Burke and Larkin are a mediocre perimeter shooting game away from busting, I believe Burke is a bigger guarantee in the area. However Burke vs Larkin is similar to MKG vs Harkless. Larkin at 20 is far more value than Burke top 5, just like Harkless at 15 had more value than MKG at 2. That MCW and Schroeder are likely to go ahead of Larkin is a canary for flaws in teams drafting. The teams who believe it's better to be tall and unskilled than short and skilled almost always get embarrassed in the draft.

The truth of the matter is our biggest need is really the 3 & 5 position. so I could see a trade that will allow us to move down and pick up and extra pick or young vet and still be able to draft larkin. Monty siad he wants speed and Larkin fits the bill. That team @ Miami had so many vets on it he didn't have to take over game. But if you watch the 1st Duke game & The UNC game's you'll see Larkin control the entire game. By the way he has one of the best jump shots in this class.

Larkin is so small that I wonder how he will hold up in the NBA. I see him as more of a bench player than full time starter, but who knows?

There's a whole bunch of Burke haters on this board. His improvement from his Freshman to Sophomore seasons was ridiculous. He was the first player to average 17+ points and 7+ assists in the Big Ten since Magic Johnson, oh and he won player of the year. Not to mention he played in the toughest conference in the country. Maybe Larkin ends up the better pro, but I doubt it.

Not really concerned about who is better. I just know I've seen Burke with my own eyes. I like what I see. That's who I want.

I only tangentially know of Larkin from when Miami curbstomped Duke.

There are no Burke haters. Everyone likes him as a player, but some of us listen to Monty and Dell about the type of players they prefer. That's not to say they won't select him, but other guys will have to be gone.

I can't stand it whenever having a different opinion from the board gets you labeled hater.

As far as the original topic goes, I'm not as high on Burke as others. I have him behind Oladipo, Mclemore, Porter and probably Noel too, however I'm fairly confident he will have a better pro career than Larkin.

Exactly...and I don't see anything in Burke that wouldn't fit that bill.

There's a distinct difference between preferring a different prospect versus hating.

Example: Larkin is the best prospect in this draft, and then OP could go into detail why he loves this prospect.

There was no need to single out Burke nor was it necessary to make his point. OP was hating on Burke and it started with the title of the thread.

Look at the Schroeder thread. You don't see hating going on there.

Original poster said "Burke's upside is closer to Jammer Nelson, a good PG for 10 years BUT NOTHING SPECIAL" then later said "Larkin could be a better decision making vision of Russell Westbrook with his speed." LOL, that's the definition of hating. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I'm also entitled to mine.

It's not assuming when they come straight out and say exactly what they want in their starting PG.

What did they say besides wanting to upgrade it? Link?
