"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

I mean, these aren't national security mission, plot thwarting, military secrets going on. It's the NBA lottery. No way they could keep such a tight lid on this if they were deliberately falsifying the process for a desired effect.
For whatever reason I've been having the feeling that we're going to get lucky, get #3 and draft Porter.
I think if we did he would immediately become a crowd favorite. Good kid, great work ethic, gives 100% on every play. People keep saying how he'll be very solid but he'll never be great, but what if he's solid in everything and great in one thing? If it's from the arc, or rebounding, or defense... I'd say that is a great pick.
Wherehappens.
I get the feeling that the Pelicans are hoping they are lucky with Coach representing the organization. However, they arent hoping this year for a #1 overall, but a pick in the 5-8 range. I think they really want an international player. I feel almost certain they will trade back if they get a top 3 pick. And I feel almost certain they know exactly the player they want. But taking that guy in the top 3 may be too high. Trading back and picking up a second round pick or two may be more appealing and they know they can get their guy.
I don't see how you don't hope for the #1 pick. You either get your #1 choice or you can trade down for more assets. Hoping for anything less doesn't make any sense to me.
Well, Jack, winning it or not I don't understand why people wouldn't want the highest position- hoping for 3rd instead of 1st, etc. I don't subscribe to the "fixed" thought process.
You really don't see a lot of trading in the NBA. Teams have so few assets, so few picks are seen as worth it. Unless you ahve teams just trading picks for cash because they're run by a dog and pony owner.
Updated ESPN Lottery mock draft projections. Here are the results from my trying it ten times. The number listed is where we ended up in the lottery and then who they have us taking. Pretty crazy results this time considering how depending upon a team guys moved around more than I have seen in the past:
1st- Otto Porter
8th- Dario Saric
6th- Anthony Bennett
6th- Anthony Bennett
6th- Anthony Bennett
6th- Anthony Bennett
6th- Anthony Bennett
7th- Trey Burke
6th- Otto Porter
2nd- Otto Porter
Chad Ford don't really know who we want. So I'm not even concerned.
Indeed, I think it's wise to look at the motivation of a so-called conspiracy theory. If NBA officials were ever discovered fixing the ping pong ball extravaganza, they could lose more than fans and money. They could be subject to fraud charges. I have a hard time believing that many people would want to take that risk.
Old fan. Tired fan. I want to believe.
All i know is for a long time everyone was hoping and wanting for an athletic SF who can do a little bit of everything, especially hit the 3, defend and rebound, like Nicolas Batum or Loul Deng, well he's in this draft and his name is Otto Porter and I think he will be even better than deng or batum. He's the kind of guy that makes little mistakes and makes those around him better. I Hope we land him.
