    Pelicans picking for need?

``We’re at a point now where we go by need and we’re trying to fulfill those needs as opposed to just taking best talent,’’ Williams said. ``Now if the need is gone, then you take the best player. I think it’s a little different than last year. Anthony was the consensus No. 1, so that was an easy one.’’

When you mention need for the Pelicans, it could literally mean anything.

Yup. Everything but starting power forward could be considered a need.

I think if we keep him and porter is gone and burke and dipo are still there they take burke.

I hope that doesn't mean SG isn't considered a "need".

You don't pass up McLemore or Oladipo to reach on a C or a SF.

The biggest need is SF, but pretty much all the positions could use an upgrade (EG is good, but may be traded, AD is in for at least several years). I think the strategy should be to take the BPA who isn't a PF.

Don't count it out as a Smokescreen. The clear need on this team right now is SF. If they covet and SG or a PG... or even a 4/5, This could throw really teams off.

Exactly. I don't think this means too much.

    This screams PG or SF.

Yeah those are our biggest needs, but we don't know our real plans for EG and Rolo isn't our long term answer at C. So I think it means were going BPA at any of those four positions.

    Hope they're looking at McCollum.

He made up for it with his vert, speed, agility, and height. Other than a monster wingspan, he measured out a lot better than expected. Kind of crazy.

Yeah and after that and Noels weight, I wouldn't be surprised if Zeller goes ahead of him. Not too mention Zeller is healthy and is already a much better player.

Not if the team plans on moving Davis to Center full time in a few years.

Zeller was a better player than Oladipo at Indiana.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

But I think Zeller's best position will be as a PF for the most part with some minutes at the 5 in smaller lineups.

Not sure he will only be at the 5 in smaller lineups. He's a legit 7 footer.

It's true. He will probably get alot of minutes at the 5 but I think he can play the 4. Variety of skills offensively but doesn't anchor the defense. He will only be solid at best defensively. I think it's important to have someone with high potential defensively at the 5 to anchor the D.

pretty sure their main targets or trey burke and otto porter, if gone then mclemore or oladipo
