Tony Allen is about is good as it's going to get guarding LeBron. But really you can say no team has a defender that can defend James.

I think you'll find that's why they traded for Prince as much as it was a salary dump to get rid of Gay.
They team is more fluent now without Gay and have two lock down defenders.

I think Prince, Allen and Pondexter share the duty of locking down James.

If Memphis can get past OKC which is not a given seeing how close the games are, they should get past GS or the Spurs fairly easily.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

Easily?? No way lol..either team vs the grizz is a 6-7 game series and could go either way.

    Playoffs Watching the Spurs

After watching Popp and the Spurs playing in this series, it is easy to see that the Pelicans will not go far without an incredible coach. As of now, I'm not sure Monty is that guy. At the very least, he has several years of growing before he is a championship coach. If you watch this series, the Spurs have pretty much shut Stephen Curry down, or at least relatively. That's coaching more than anything. Granted the Spurs are very talented, but nowhere close to the Heat, or even the Grizzlies, IMO. They would be out this series with any other coach.

Having said that, a talented team can make a coach look a lot better. If Monty was the coach for the Heat, he would look like a golden god.

    Opinions?

Pop is one of the greatest coaches ever. Those aren't just walking around... Monty will be a great coach. Just look at Vogel in Indiana. Very similar coaches.

I think this team can learn around Monty, to be honest, our team as of right now isnt all that.... we are very very young

It's pretty much a given that Williams will probably be never as good as Pop. If that's the type of expectations he's going to have face, he's doomed to fail. I too agree that Williams needs his team to be developed and filled out before we can really get a good idea of his coaching limits. One of the hardest situation a young coach has to be in involves developing young talent and getting them to compete. Usually most teams tend to have a developing type of coach as a placeholder until they're ready to take the next step.. Then these teams go on to hire a more proven coach to compete. Williams is in a really tough situation.

About half the NBA titles are tied to 3 coaches.

Yeah, I do think Monty is a very good coach, this season wasnt exactly a shining moment but the previous season, even though our record was horrible.... he had the team playing hard.... this season, was awkward in general.... and key players got hurt, so it was hard to mesh

Wow y'all like to start multiple threads. There is a playoff thread already. Is that the norm here? I'm kind of new.

POP is one of the best.

Monty still has another 3-4 years to prove himself. I'm pretty confident he will get every opportunity to prove himself in this league as "the guy". It's dells job now to field a competitive team and give Monty sumn to work with. He has many peanuts to coach to date. Very admirable job thus far. IMO. Time will work this all out tho. So far Monty has shown he belongs. IMO.

Monty is getting on the job training along with our young players. I liked some adjustments this year especially on offense but I do see improvement. I see a coach learning from his mistakes which not a lot do (Byron Scott cough cough).

That play exactly is why we all should know lebron flopped when he was pushed by Muhammad. That's ridiculous. He did a good enough flop job there that they had to go look at the replay. Not this time lebron.

Does anyone else think that Memphis would have won this series even if Westbrook was healthy? Memphis seriously could win it all in my opinion.
