Thread: 2013 Draft Lottery thread

Obama recently signed this 'Monsanto Protection Act,' and has gotten a lot of flack for it.

Many scientists/researchers have spoken out against Monsanto's franken-crops, GMO's (genetically modified organisms) saying that they are not healthy to have in our food supply.

This is all overseen by representatives from Ernst and Young and witnessed by every team in the lottery including media representatives. Now tell me how they can rig it so that one specific team wins on the third attempt.

The only people who think it's rigged are those who don't understand how the process works and probably don't even care to know how... they just like to say it's rigged without any reason behind it.
Are you saying its impossible to rig? All you've said is why it's more difficult. Difficulty adds to make people think its more legit, but doesn't mean it's impossible. It just means its hard. What about specific magnetized balls that you can turn on when the drawing is real? Again. I'm not saying I believe the lottery is rigged. However people have found ways to do far harder things than make a certain ping pong ball come up. The more important question isn't is it possible. It's does it make sense to do it? Once you go down that path of doing it once I'd think that'd be too big a can to close.

Nerlens kinda sounds like Nawlins. Guess we're gonna win again. It's so easy to call it after the fact when you get to cherry pick the examples and bend it to fit what you want it to fit, but funny how you can never use this to predict anything.

What would magnetic balls attract? Each other? Other balls? Tulips?

I'd replace Porter with Bennett and put Noel ahead of McElmore.

    2013 Trade Idea

We are all talking about what to do if we luck out in the lottery and stay at 5 or move up, but what if worst case happens and we get the 8th pick and lets say noel, mclemore, oladipo, burke, porter, bazz and bennett are gone, would anyone have a problem with us trading our pick to the Hawks for picks 17 and 18 and drafting either rudy gobert or giannis at 17 and either kaldwell-pope or archie goodwin at 18?

I'm all for the idea of not drafting at all this year, so the thought of drafting TWO more youngins is nauseating to me.

Well someone else had a really good idea of trading our 5th overall pick for Utah's 14th overall and their 1st rounder unprotected next year, if they would do it I think it would be great, if not i'd throw Vasquez at them and try and get them to give us alec burks

No. Sorry just no. I'm no Gravy homer but I certainly wouldn't trade him for Burks and a mid first. Nahhhhh

Next year's draft seems to be loaded! I would be happy with a low lottery pick and can still get a great player!

exactly, u dont even need a low lottery pick to get a stud, BUT we could package our 1st with utah's first and move into the top 5 and maybe get jabari parker who i think is the 2nd best player in the draft and can score from anywhere on the court just like melo. Or we could package both 1st and next years first for the #1 pick in wiggins who is the best prospect since maybe lebron. Who knows...

Tanking is a problem. The only reason its not more of one in the NFL is the amount of attention on every game and that basketball is more directly influenced by any single franchise player. Were there no lottery, it would make even less sense for bad teams to try and win games late.

two things i've noticed from this

    a. i really want otto porter, and odds of that happening aren't in our favor.
    b. espn seems to LOVE mccollum and bennett, repeatedly taking them over oladipo. why do yall think that is?

The NFL don't have a tanking problem because the season is over so quickly. Talent wins in sports and it make sense to acquire the best available talent. Football teams take action all the time that can be perceived as "tanking" once the team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

If you held the #1 pick next year, would you trade it for 7(?)I and a 14(?) when the best prospect since LBJ has fallen into your lap? Te personable held the #2 wouldn't even do that.

Think he is gonna be a key cog in someone's winning program. Didn't notice how good a passer he is before. Would love for him to replace Lopez.

My Dad firmly believes its rigged; I have a hard time believing you can rig a lottery ball system very effectively and consistently.
As long as the process never becomes computerized, I will see it as legit.

What can you honestly do? Weigh the balls pertaining to the combinations for the team the NBA "wants" to win? That still isn't foolproof.
Design a lotto machine that creats the perfect environment for a set combination to appear? Yea right.

Aliens?? NOW we might be talking.

Another thing to note is how much more talent is available to the NFL. You can find franchise players in the third round with moderate success.
The NBA doesn't even have a third round.
