I dont understand the love for tall PGs. Other than magic no tall PG has ever been succesfull. Gianis will not be a PG, he will be a SF

Good to see an Australian Hornets/Pelicans fan.
    Not too many of us.
Currently living down in Brunswick, yeah there arn't many of us around here. I do know a few people who are active hornets/pelicans supporters.

Although I am surprised these days at how popular the NBA is down in Australia, seriously doubt it has been this popular since maybe the golden era of the late 80's and 90's.

We should pursue our own guy Edin Bavcic.

Yes. He averaged 8.3 points per game in 19 minutes with some Greek team. He's 28 and could come in right away.

I don't recall anyone saying he would be a PG?

Who do you think will get the first promise?
    Chad Ford (1:31 PM)

Dario Saric. He's not staying in the draft if he's not a lottery pick. So if he stays, someone promised him in the lottery.
    ..

    Bill (MQT)

Any chance Trey Burke goes #1?
    Chad Ford (1:33 PM)

Yes, if the Magic get the No. 1 pick. Possibly if the Pelicans do as well. But outside ...

  9. #59
Ya only way we get burke is if we jump the magic in the lottery or the magic get the #1 pick, i dont think they take burke #1

  10. #60
The magic aren't taking Burke. The whole world isn't in love w Burke like this board is. Most people have him ranked 5 or lower.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

Any chance Dario Saric goes #6 to the Pelicans? Or would they only draft him if they trade back?
    Chad Ford (1:15 PM)

Yes and yes. There are a handful of teams that believe Saric is a top five talent in the draft. I believe the Pelicans are one of them. So, yes, if the guys they have ranked ahead of him are all gone, I do think they'd take him at 6. However, they could probably trade down to a pick like 9 or 10, pick up an asset and still get him. The scouts that REALLY know Europe say that there's not a huge difference between Saric and Otto Porter.

People better start warming up to Saric because it looks like his stock is rising. And in 2-3 weeks, he could take a Lillard-like rise.

The Pelicans have been linked to him for weeks now, AND Dell flew to Croatia just the other day to see him play.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with MM...we're taking him.

I believe we take him too. Hopefully Dell can trade back a few spots then take him though.

We probably going to take him if no one slips that Dells likes. If Oladipo, McLemore, or Porter is there take one of them and sign Ingles

Being reported that Saric staying in Europe at least one more year.
We want more! We want more!

  19. #69
That's false. What was said was "still considering pulling out" in the interview. I think it's a ploy to make sure he's a lottery pick.

He also said he wasn't going to enter the draft this year. Well, we know what happened. I still think the remarks were made to teams that may take him outside of the lottery which would be consistent with what he has said for some time now. Outside of the Lottery, he's likely stay home.

The thing that excites me the most about this draft is that we'll get to see how good is Demps at evaluating young players. Last year's didn't count because Davis was the easiest pick of the decade.

    This is what was said.

With all of that in mind, Saric says withdrawing from the draft entirely remains a possibility even as teams look to solidify their draft boards and target certain players. Here's a brief quote from the interview, via Sportando:

"I expect to be picked in the 1st round. Being picked is a dream which comes true. But I may pull my name out of the draft. I will talk with my agent. Even if I get selected in the draft, I will return to Europe next season."

It may be a ploy but he said he will return to Europe next season.

It better be. I just need to see more of Saric. He could be the real deal. Especially if he develops a consistent jumper, which...is pretty much required. Has to be more than a SF version of Ayon.

Still wonder about his ability to defend.

Those quotes are a bit inaccurate. His exact words were "I will try to stay here in Croatia." Politically correct answers as far as I'm concerned. Expected from a guy who considers pulling out.

    Here's the actual interview.

This gives you a good idea of what Saric and his agent's mindset is going into the draft.
