Pelicans Josh Smith and Tyreke Evans

If we would acquire either Tyreke or Smith this offseason how do you think they would impact this team?

Feel free to state whether or not you would want them on the team, but the thread is about how you think they would fit/impact this team.

Tyreke to me would be great for the 3 guard lineup that Monty likes to run. Plus he brings some "attack the basket" abilities that we lack. I think he could be had for a fair price as well.

Smith is without a doubt an impact player. Also he would bring great size when used at the 3 and some scoring there as well. I know there is conflict with minutes for him as a big though, so he might be a great fit.

So which would you rather sign and how do you think they'd impact?

Smith would allow us to play AD & Ryno together more. On Offense Smith could play the PF & defense he could play SF and guard LeBron James's of the world.
Tyreke would be more of a power SG always attacking the rim.

I would take Josh over Tyreke

I would sign Tyeke over JSmoove. He has more flexibility

I would take tyreke bc he is better offensively and would compliment gordon better. He would also help spread the floor by attacking the basket and creating for others. JS is PF and we already have enough of those.

They would both fit, but I think Evans is more economical. And if Dell really was trying to upgrade pg, Evans would be a good candidate. He has size that Dell likes and speed the team needs. But a 3 guard scenario with Vasquez (or whoever plays pg), Gordon, and Evans would be interesting, too. PG/Gordon/Evans/Davis/C or Evans/Gordon/Porter/Davis/C = fun basketball

I wish Tyreke would play SF. That'd be a match made in heaven for this team.

I kind of like the idea of J Smith/Ryno/Davis frontcourt because of the flexibility, but the problem is Smith is going to want to much money. And Evans is intriguing, mainly because I don't judge anyone who plays for that joke of a franchise. Most I'd be willing to spend would be 4 years/28 million for Tyreke, he will get more, and 4 years/44 millions for Smith and he'll also get more.

A lineup of Tyreke/Gordon/Smith/Anderson/Davis would be really fun to watch though.

I can't stand Josh Smiths game. I'd rather have Charlie V. I think he's one of the most overrated players in the league.

Some team is going to be real desperate and give Smith a near max contract.

I would rather Evans, but I wouldn't pay alot of money for him.

Neither. I think we'd be wasting our money on both.

Always did like Reke. Think he would be the true slasher I've coveted for ages.

And I liked Smooth at one point. But as we're constructed now? Eh. Doesn't bring enough of what we need and he'd only be squeezing minutes from Davis and Anderson at any rate. If he were three inches taller and played center.

I like both as long as we don't over pay for either.

    +10000000000

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

I don't like both they give us much needed athleticism, but neither are quality shooters. With those two everything needs to be at the basket(if your lucky and Smith isn't chucking 3's) in order to be a decent percentage attempt.

I think we can find much cheaper options that provides us a significant boost to athlectism.

    All Star

I like tyreke and would want him at the right price. His versatily would allow us to play him to 1-3 and the ability to get to the rim, which is something that lacks in our team. He's young, quick, aggresive to the basket, good passer, not a bad defender, he's build strong. There is room for him to improve his midrange and 3pt shot to an average, his mechanics are good.
With a change of place and in a few years he could become a star.

But I don't know which pos I would want him to play more, I guess at PG mainly.

Who would you pick out of Burke, oladipo and porter if we got Reke?

Sorry guys, neither would be good fits at all. No need to fit square pegs in round holes.

Josh Smith is going to cost way too much. That would set us back for years. I would love his defense on this team, but do you really want him as your main SF on offense? He already takes too many ugly outside shots from the PF position.

Reke is not that much better than Aminu to be completely honest. He handles the ball better, while Aminu rebounds better. But what you don't see in the stat sheet is defense, and Aminu gives you a world more on defense than Reke. And Aminu isn't very good mind you.

I have no interest in a SF that doesn't play defense and can't hit the outside shot. That's going in the wrong direction.

I agree. Evans could be our slasher. We would have to get another big who can play defense in the post and rebound to play along side Davis. If we did, this could work. Works great for me in 2K!

    Both will get overpaid.

Tyreke will likely get 4 years, 10-12 per, which is ridiculous.

Just think how well we could distribute the ball with Reke at the 3. Not to mention how much our fast break would improve if we upgrade the point too.

at this point we need talent. id take evans over gordon

  22. #22
yall are under rating tyreke evans, he had his best year, increasing his shooting percentage and 3point percentag, he's only 23 and will continue to improve, if u could get him for cheap now it would be a smart move

Indeed. Sac-Town has been a talent sink for nearly a decade. Can't really say a player who spent his whole career thus far is really not worth the time of day.

I say we take a good hard look at him. Cousins too if we can swindle 'em good enough.

This is my main concern for both. Not what each can give but about how much cap it's going to cost us.

  25. #25
tyreke shot 34% from 3 and 48% from the field as a guard which is incredible, not only that he is insane handles and quickness for his size making him unguardable by most SG's. He also is a good rebounder and passer.

in 31 minutes he averaged 15-4.5-3.5 for a terrible Sac team
per 36 minutes that is 18-5-4

He is only 23, if he keeps working on his 3 ball and continues to improve it, which I say no reason why he wouldn't being so young, he could be one of the best offensive shooting guards in the league, able to hit the 3, get to the rim whenever he wants and finish, not to mention his passing.
