Ricardo "Ricky" Ledo

Who is he? A 6'7 Shooting Guard for Providence. He is a YouTube sensation and was ranked the #22 best high school player in in 2012 by ESPN. He suffered a season ending injury (ACL) before his career in school and has never played a game in college. He declared for the 2013 NBA draft and is projected as a late first rounder.





He is often compared to Kevin Durant but shorter. The guy has sick handles, and a deadly stroke. I know not playing in college may affect his future, but his talent is pretty impressive. I would love for us to buy a late first rounder and draft him and with Trey Burke with our first pick.

He can even play the SF IMO.

He's going a lot higher than the late first. The talent/skill is there along with the measurables and tools. The only reason why he's been overlooked was due him sitting a year out due to the NCAA deeming him ineligible. So he never got the exposure outside of high school. I don't see how he won't be a lottery pick especially in this draft. His stock will rise considerably after the combine. You can pretty much book it.

I remember hearing about this guy once. Someone was raving about him a long time ago, but I never looked him up.

I'd be on board for him in the later part of the first, but I also think he'll go a lot higher than that. Possibly sneak into the lottery.

I also wouldn't mind looking at Glen Rice Jr who has played in the D-League since leaving G-Tech last year.

Some other possible late 1st or 2nd round potential buy ins: Cannan, Bullock, or Crabbe.

I doubt it. He was #22 in high school. Hasn't played a more competitive college game and has to make the transition the NBA. Late first round is generous.

That's ESPN's list. Rivals had him at #8. You have to look at his skillset. He has range beyond the NBA 3. A strong mid-range shot, a perfected floater, can create off the dribble and finish in traffic. Not to mention he can go BOTH left and right. He has the tools to be a good defensive player with his quick feet. Add his insane handles for someone of that size, you have tremendous potential.

Yes, he's never competed in the college game but you have to consider how polished his offensive game is at this stage of his career. That alone is very valuable in a weaker draft like this where McLemore, Oladipo, and Mccollum are the only sure thing to be drafted above him. It's WIDE WIDE open after that.

Ricardo Ledo, G, Providence
Ledo was the 21st-ranked high school prospect in the country last season and was widely regarded as the most gifted scoring guard in the class. Poor academics and inconsistent effort were the only things holding him back from being a star. Ledo failed to academically qualify to play at Providence, and has spent the past season practicing with but not playing for the team.

Had Ledo been able to declare for the draft last year, I think he would have been a mid to late first-round pick. Where will he go this year?

His talent, size and scoring ability are still all there. He also has a high basketball IQ and the ability to be a big point guard. His weaknesses are inconsistent effort and some selfishness with the ball. Scouts who have seen him in practices this season still swear he's one of the top talents in this draft and believe he'll blow up in workouts.

We moved Ledo into the first round of our mock draft on Tuesday. If he plays well at the combine and in workouts, he could move another 10 or 15 spots up the board. There are few upside prospects in this draft, and Ledo has just about every scout I've spoken with intrigued

He definitely should be somebody we have an eye on. If he's at the mid to bottom in this draft we could trade back into the draft to get him.
