regardless of how good len is he will climb the boards, he's 7"1, a natural shot blocker and can hit the jumper. if we feel into the 7th or the 8th spot i could see us taking him then addressing PG and SF through FA and trade.

I never been so lost on who would we take. Right now its wide open...however that will change in two weeks

I never liked the idea of family being your agent.
This is actually quite brilliant. Rookie contracts are paid via the rookie wage scale. All he really need is a lawyer to make sure the contract is up to snuff and lawyer fees are much cheaper than agent fees. Might as well let your dad collect the traditional agent fees for doing the least amount of work early in a player's career. If Benji wants to be a real sports agent and can use his son's chance to springboard his career I have no problems.
Benji wasn't one of those fathers that was pushing his son to go pro asap. Matter fact reports had Trey leaving until Benji and his mom Rhonda convinced him to stay on a car ride from Ann Arbor to Columbus. Nothing that Benji has said or done since Trey immerged on the sense as a potential NBA prospect has been questionable that makes me think he doesn't have his son's best interest at heart.
1. victor olidipo - best defender in college, can drive, shoot the 3, smart hard worker. fits the demps mold.
2. nerlins noel - putting him next to davis wouldn't provide much meat but it would create defensive nightmares
3. trey burke - we need a playmaker like burke, but his defense may not cut it
4. otto porter - seems like a battier type, not really a game changer, but reliable
5. cj mccullom - a true professional, lights out shooter
6. michael carter williams - matchup guy who can triple double
7. jamaal franklin - sleeper
8. alex lenz - athletic big, underperformed but has high ceiling
9. cody zeller - good fundamentals, not a game changer
10. archie goodwin - athletic freak
if archie goodwin can improve his jumper he would be unguardable, he has a little monta ellis/westbrook in him athletically and quickness.
yea he may be a nice surprise in the mid/late 1st
I wish Austin Rivers was able to play the rest of the season. He was starting to get it together, then I could make a better assessment as our future point guard. But as it is, I still have to pick Burke. He is just too good.
very high on goodwin. not at 1-5, but definitely late lottery/just outside of it if we trade down for some future assets. assuming he pans out as you believe his role might be a little redundant with rivers but i don't see much of a future for gordon here which opens a spot plus if both him + rivers succeed greatly we can just trade one. sounds like a good problem to have.
I'd be pretty happy with any of those three. They are all in my top five. Of them, I'd take Porter first. I like the way he can do just about everything and I think he is going to give you solid production year after year. Plus he plays the position of biggest need for the team. I feel like with him and AD as a young core you have a superstar and a glue guy who are going to be around for a long time and be rocks in their position.
Burke or Oladipo is a tough call. Both can be really good. Burke has shown more. I'm still a little nervous about his size. Oldadipo might be very good. He has a lot of hustle, just isn't very polished yet.

I'm sorry...I just don't get the height problem. There are plenty great players that are 5'9—6'0. Its really not big deal. If that's the big worry about Burke then that's a blessing. Sign me up now.
burke has a 6"5 wingspan so its ok
The pelicans are allegedly interested in Saric which tells me finding a SF is priority #1. If Saric really impresses in team workouts, i wonder who the pelicans would take with Porter off the board. Hell Shroedder might even break the top ten.
Saric is extremely talented, he can score anywhere, he can drive, shoot, and has a post game, he is also an excellent passer and has great size at 6"10, but i think the only way we take him is if we trade down

That is the reason i came to this conclusion. He was out of our range which told me we were looking at SF prospects first. You never know where his stock may go, but i agree we might need to trade down to snag him. It may just be a smokescreen (shrugs); who really knows?
Are there any contractual obligations keeping him from playing his first year?
He has an NBA opt out clause which allows him to join the NBA. We would have to buy him out (I'm not sure what the price is... I think 3 mil).
Would he be a euro stash? I think that would allow us some financial flexibility, but we would lose a potentially productive player which is something we desperately need. I could easily see Dell doing this though; he is in no rush to win.
i would just leave him in europe for another year, he's only 18 anyway
Are there any solid SF veterans that would take a 1 year contract? That would definately soften the blow a little.
Getting the last year of Caron Butler's deal as part of any trade with Clippers (instead of Jordan), would give us a small forward for a year.
