    Trade w/ jazz

If we pick 5, and Burke is there, is a trade with Utah possible?

I think Utah would love to have Burke, and perhaps the Pelicans could drop back to 14 and still get the wing player they need. Would Utah give up Burks and 14 for Burke. Just to make it a more interesting/confusing trade, would Utah throw in Gordon Haywood and a 2014 1st for Eric Gordon? ...that trade would definitely confuse the talking heads on draft night.

Haywood, a #1, and clearing some salary seems like excellent value at this point for Gordon.

Pelicans could draft Carter-Williams, Saric, Rice Jr., Zeller, or McCollum at 14.

Pelicans would also get another pick in what should be a very deep draft in 2014.

Pelicans trade: 2013 #5 and Eric Gordon.
Utah trades: 2013 #14, 2014 1st rounder, Alec Burks and Gordon Haywood

    Thoughts...

dont see mcollum falling to 14 because of people's success like curry and lillard

I would take Burke over Alec Burks AND carter-williams every single day of the week and never question myself. This is coming from someone who loves alec burks but i just dont think carter williams is worth a lottery pick.

    Lol Gordon Haywood.

Trades don't have to confuse people, they have to make sense though. I don't see Utah trading a promising young player for someone who hasn't played a full season in his entire career.

There are certainly other options at 14 if McCollum is gone and MCW isn't up to snuff: Olynyk, Rice Jr., Saric, Dieng, KCP, Etc.

I respectfully disagree. Gordon's on a bad contract and hasn't played amazing basketball since he returned from his injury, plus he only played 42 games. Right now, I see HAYWARD as the better asset.

If Gordon can stay healthy a play like we all know he's capable of, then of course he's the better player.

Eric Gordon, Burke, Kanter, Favors and cap space to add another starter could make a lot of sense for a Utah team that just barely missed the playoffs.

For Pelicans, The 2014 pick is a real prize, and adding Burk and Hayward to a rotation with Rivers and Vazquez increases versatility and options in the backcourt and on perimeter. At pick 14 this year I'd be happy with Saric, Olynyc, Rice, KCP or Dieng

Damn, you fixed before I could point it out.

IMO you're all overvaluing Gordon right now.

...not really. I'm not all that high on Eric Gordon at all. I think you could be overvaluing Gordon Hayward. In Hayward's best season he's averaging 14 pts 3 ast. In Eric Gordon's down year (this year), he averaged 17 and 3. They're basically the same age and EG has a higher ceiling than GH, and is capable of reaching it in the right situation. I just don't believe N.O. and EG are the right match for that ever happening.

I can see where ur coming from and u might very well be right. But the way I look at is if gordon pans out and we have him, ryno, davis and someone like burke on the team at the same time. If it works out with Gordon the skys the limit, with gordon u get a good player, im just a type of guy that swings for the fences instead of being a perenial 4th seed in the playoffs.

    eric bledsoe
    eric gordon
    otto porter
    ryan anderson
    anthony davis

good lord this team in 2-3 years, watch the heck out.

or id also love a team of

    trey burke
    eric gordon
    danillo gallinari
    ryno
    davis

i wonder if the clippers would give us bledsoe for cheap just for the simple reason they are scared cp3 might return to Nola and they will be screwed. GV + Lopez + 2nd round pick for Bledsoe. Lets do it.

...we're still in asset accumulation mode, and aiming for 8th seed contention. We're not ready to swing for fences yet.

Give me Burk, Hayward, Rice or Olynyc, the prospect of 2 picks in the 2014 draft, and almost $10million per season in savings, and you can definitely have Trey Burke and Eric Gordon.

If we win a top 3 pick, all bets are off. I wouldn't do this trade if we had pick 4 or higher. But 5 or lower and I'm all in.

The difference between you and me is that I'm more pessimistic regarding Gordon's recovery than you. That's why I don't see much value in keeping him. Now, if he can stay healthy and play the way he played in L.A (and improve) I'm well on board with retaining him.

If you don't see much value in keeping him, what makes you think a team sees much value in getting him?

I am NOT an Eric Gordon fan at all (he blocked me on twitter!) ...but he is only 24. He's 8 months younger than Steph Curry.

Gotta believe there are GMs who still think he has more potential than Gordon Hayward.

thats the thing he is only 24, the same age as some people entering the draft after their senior year, we havent seen the best of gordon yet and i truely believe if he had good pieces around him and he didnt have to be THE guy every night all night he wouldnt get banged up as much

ty lawson is already 25 and only been in the league 4 years.

Did y'all really just go here with this trade scenario??? The draft day trade was decent, but are y'all serious about trading Eric Gordon for Gordon Hayward?!?!?! Wow!

Technically it's all a part of the same trade, but if you wanted to break it out, it would be Eric Gordon for Gordon Hayward and a 2014 1st round pick. IMHO, you can't expect much more than that for Eric Gordon. Don't undervalue the 2014 pick as part of this deal.

I get all that from a ball perspective, which is why I think there is a market for Eric Gordon. However, and let me be clear, I'm ok acknowledging that I just don't like Eric Gordon the guy and he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy you plan on going to war with.

Let me put it to you this way, in street vernacular: He's a broad.

His entire character would have to change for me to want him on the Pelicans.

If we were to trade Gordon for Hayward, Utah would have to throw in Alec Burkes.
