I would love to see Popeye's sponsor it. There's something funny to me about a chicken joint sponsoring a team named after a bird.

My first two would be Zatarains or Popeyes. Just because it gives it that local flavor that a lot of places lack.

    Capital One is more likely.
    Wherehappens.

I prefer who gives the Hornets the most money and puts the coolest crap in the arena.

"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

I agree with Inner_GI, that thing is sexy!

I think our Arena needs a new facade to go along with the new atrium they are planning on adding. One of my uncles worked for one of the companies that did the arena and as a mason, the original facade was planned to be a brick veneer similar to what his company did for Harrah's.
In the end, the state said it was too costly so they opted for a "modern" look and went with the teal aluminum panels that we have now. I think brick work looks more keen in a city like NOLA and it would look very nice if they did away with the panels and put that up!

Teams are starting to use DLeague more so I think in the next CBA they may change the rules to make DLeague teams more useful, but the next CBA isn't coming until after the lockout/strike in 2017.
    All of this is true.

They are just not interested right now given that there are bigger fish to fry. I really don't know why, but I think all of the above combined with the fact that they have grown rapidly in recent years with the addition of Fox 8, Benson Tower, and the Hornets. To add a Pelicans D-League team or WNBA team is just more trouble than its worth.

Plus, I think they may be considering other business acquisitions, stuff that will enhance the overall situation downtown.

Eh, Capital One pulled back their investment before.

Maybe it was temporay, maybe it was mere politics, and maybe naming rights is a more worthwhile investment.

    I'd bet against it.

Well who else seems likely or has put a bid in? Whitney Bank Arena?

How about GameLoft so we can call the arena the GameLoft Game-Loft?

    I don't know who has.

Given the Pelican's mission in the community, I think Louisiana Seafood, maybe with Zatarain's.

Louisiana Seafood Seasoned by Zatarain's Arena is a better name than proposed earlier. It involves the state, helps many small businesses, tourism, and brings in the money of McCormick (they own Zatarain's).

They are calling the season tickets "Seasoned Tickets" if I remember correctly.

    I'll think on others.

Zatarains would never be ok being second fiddle to anyone. "Seasoning"? Nah.

Ahhhh, but that was a pretty strong claim about Zat's.

Would be cool, but I'm not sure they really have the cash for that.

McIlhenny takes in about $150M - $250M a year depending on where you look, which would make an Arena deal a large part of their marketing budget. Their CEO just died too. That seems like a big, bold move for a company with no relationship with the franchise or Benson. It could cost them Crystal, as well, and that's not chump change. Those sorts of deals start in the 6-figures annually.

McCormick has about a $10B market cap and could benefit from heightening New-Orleans-ness that is the essence of the Zatarain's brand.

Capital One and Zatarain's seem like the best two options to me.

    Wouldn't mind either one.

One of you fill this noob in on my question?

Would a power company/plant that operates in Louisiana be interested in this or would there not be much interests for both sides?

What about Entergy? The Entergy Arena would be a good fit.

Reliant, which is a big energy company in Texas, participates in Naming Rights. Entergy would parallel that. Reliant is bigger company by around a factor of 2, but this would be a smaller investment.

    They could use the press.

    Good thoughts.

Reliant already has naming rights to a stadium. Not sure if they're even interested in another.

Speaking of energy companies, Chesapeake Energy Arena in OKC used to be Ford Center. Entergy Arena sounds heck of a lot better than Louisiana Seafood Hot Spice Seasoned Crawfish Arena. LOL.
