oladipo over porter over burke

Otto Porter
Trey Burke
Victor Oladipo
I think Porter is a spitting image of Nicholas Battum. It honestly freaks me out watching him play how similar the two of them are. He would be a great get for sure.
Trey Burke is the real player in this draft. He was the best player in college basketball and lead his team to the national championship game. The kid is well versed in the pick and roll, he's the perfect match for what we like to do. In the same way 3 players were selected before Chris Paul, I expect four players to go before Burke for no other reason than his height. We would be crazy to let him slide by us, and it would haunt us for years to come.
I never like using high picks on unrefined players. Oladipo is going to come into the league and he is going to play defense. But do we really want a shooting guard that isn't a natural scorer? Do we really want to use a top 5 pick on a SG that isn't a natural scorer, and replace our 20PPG SG that is only 24 years old? Think about how awful the offensive lineup of Vasquez, Oladipo, player X, Davis and Lopez would be. Haven't we already been through enough with the Aminu's, Ariza's, Desmond Mason's of the world.
Thats fair i give you that. I been Olapopo biggest fa, but we cant ignore that he avg. 13 ppg. Thats not what we need . We need scorers, or someone who help our team offense run better. Trey Burke is that. Worst case scenario if he is gone, i say trade pick.
Otto Porter MAY be what we are looking for in a offensive facilitator, but his weird release and lean body combine with his avg athleticism will make him more of a project/high risk high reward. He is not a sure thing IMO.
The only sure thing for our team right now is Trey Burke honestly.

Ok lets say we draft Trey Burke, where do we go?????
PG= Burke Vasquez Rivers???
I really believe in Rivers, but he fits the 1 better then 2. And Vasquez will only get better with more seasoning and more working out in the offseason.
Looking at various mock drafts if Orlando isn't the first overall pick, you guys think they would select Burke over McLemore? Orlando is the only team I see that would select Burke instead of us in the top 5..
I agree to me it's Trey Burke and then everybody else. I think he's that good. He has the very same skill set as Paul leaving Wake and the very same weaknesses. I think the only difference is Paul showed his athletic ability much more frequently and is a craftier ball handler.
I believe I read that the Hornets were by far the team that used the pick and roll the most to initiate offense. That was the bread and butter of what Michigan did as well, and Burke handles that ball perfectly. He's a threat to score, being one of the most consistent scorers in college basketball, but he also was one of the most efficient point guards in the country with an over 3 to 1 assist to turnover ratio.
I don't like to compare him to Chris Paul, because I think CP3 is the best PG of this generation. But as we know with Chris, Trey Burke can be an entire offense. Like having a great QB in the NFL. His shooting form the outside, and ability to get to the basket are going to keep defenders close to him. His high effiency and ability to pass are going to make him extremely hard to stop. And while people freak out about his height, he does have really quick hands and feet on defense. He's also been one of the most clutch players when it came to big games and big moments.
I think you could see Vasquez as the backup PG and Rivers as the backup 2. But I definitely want to see Rivers at PG long term and would have to think we would explore trading Vasquez with his low salary and coming off a season where he lead the league in assists.
To put it simply Burke is the most complete PG prospect since Paul. This is why he's a star or bust. He has every skill needed to be a dominant PG. His defense is the biggest question mark skill wise same as Paul.
If he doesn't succeed it will be because he fail to use the explosiveness we've seen flashes of.

Who wants to put money on MJ picking another bust? Anybody?
This is the problem. You don't draft for need, you don't draft to fill holes. You get TALENT, you push that talent out there and make the talent that you have better. Imo, Burke is the BEST talent available. I may be wrong on that and Oladipo might be the next Jordan, but Porter WILL be a Jimmy Butler type. Not amazing, but good. I think that Burke could be GREAT.
How heartbreaking would it be if these 3 guys are on the board and We DON'T take one of them?
"I don't know if people know — I dislocated my pinkie finger. And [Tyreke] told me, 'You wanna go home or you wanna be here?' I want to be here. And he said, 'All right, then go tape it up and let's play. Let's go. We not stoppin' at no stores. Straight gas. That's what we do, just keep going.'"

i think there are some good pg options in free agency, not so many at sf, if burke is gone id be thrilled with porter, then either make a move for eric bledsoe or jeff teague
for people saying porter has no athleticism i strongly disagree, he is only 19 and not reached his athleticism. i think he will be a great all around SF that can do anything. like a more athletic, better defending hedo turkoglu, id take that in a second
Burke & Oladipo for me, I prob still would prefer the first, but I wouldn't mind the second either.
Burke, Porter, Bazz, McCallum, Saric...
and then whichever we end up with... here are you FA targets: CP, Jennings, Brewer, Budinger, Webster, JR or Nate Rob (our bench scorer w/ Ryno)... Boom.
I like Bledsoe and I hope he's the guy we land, but to say teague is below average is just not true. He's a guy that averages 16-8-3 while shooting 45% from the field, 37% from 3 and 88% from the FT line and he also has good size at 6"2, incredible quickness and is an above average defender for a PG. Teague is very under rated IMO.
I've noticed on the ESPN Lottery Mock Draft that Len has really climbed up the boards.
