    Oladipo

There is a lot of Burke love on here. I wanted to start a thread to show some dipo love. Probably my fav prospect now that smart is gone.

    Almost 60% fg.
    44% from 3

    http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/...-Oladipo-6514/

Reminds me of iggy. I love his work ethic and will continue I believe because of this. He is an exciting guy to watch as well. Could be a star

Much as I like Porter, Oladipo has things that carry you further. Give players equal skills, the one with better physical tools will wind up with the bigger impact. Got that NFL 2K, "You can't coach that" talent.

Only reason I don't have him over Burke is because I think Burke is still the better player right now. Even if neither improves, Burke can revamp our offensive attack and is better suited to play with Anthony Davis on the PnR game.

    Oladipo

Our defense struggled last year and I think his ability to guard 1-3 would really help us.

I also really like Oladipo. People on this board often underrate defense I think.

    For me (today):

    1. Noel
    2. McLemore
    3. Porter
    4. Oladipo
    5. Burke
    6. Gobert
    7. MCW
    8. Bennett
    9. Len
    10. Adetokoubo
    11. Muhammad

I'm am a fan of Oladipo in fact the only prospect I like more than Victor is Trey Burke. I think they are the first and second best players from this class when it's all said and done.

I like Oladipo. If he can develop a consistent shot, he could be something special. He seems to be athletic, explosive to the basket and has a high basketball IQ. Porter doesn't seem to be athletic enough for the NBA. I would prefer McLemore or Oladipo.

Since when is there a lot of Burke love here? I think most would take Dipo over Burke if he's on the board.

    That said...

I think people underrate how big of a need defense is. I'd take Oladipo.

Oladipo > Burke any day. Cant go with needs with so many busts lurking. Ya need at least one BACK-COURT player who is exceptionally athletic.

    Isn't that going with needs?

Oladipo was a little better this season, but not that much better. If Gordon is here long-term, go with Burke. If Gordon is not here long-term, go with Oladipo.

Rather have Porter over both. He's about the same as Oladipo but a year younger and will project better long-term. And he fills a need just like Burke.

Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams

Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston

My problem with Burke is Dell has talked about what they want in their PG a number of times and Burke is not that.

What's the point of being athletic if you're a shooting guard who can't create his own shot and probably never will? Oladipo took too long to dominate at the college level which is alot alot less competitive at the NBA level. Red flag.

True, but why did he draft a guy like Rivers then and project him at the point?

Come on look at the stats from year to year. He got crazy better from 3 and good bit better on fg. Steals way up. Click image for larger version.

That would beg the question if they ever saw him in a starting role or not, or have they always wanted him to be a sixth man type? I'd personally move our pick for Bledsoe even if Burke was still on the board.

Porter had a big jump as well from his freshman year to sophomore year and his sophomore year was just as good as Oladipo's junior year.

    Oladipo

I don't care who thinks he can't create his own shots. He is a very athletic long guard that is SUPER efficient. 53% fg in college. He has all the tools. His work ethic will make him better

    SAY NO TO BURKE

drafting for need will get you burned everytime!!!!!!!
    Rivers was a prime example.
we needed a pg and a back-up sg

there was a somewhat unexpected run on guards with beal, waiters, lilliard and ROSS going before our pick.

at 10, I would have drafted john henson. It was obvious he would be a solid pro..
moe harkless and andrew nicholson too.

we didn't need those positions, but we didn't need rivers either.

I like the dude, but am not a believer. He is going to get hurt fallin all over the place trying to finish. I admire it, cause he cant finish near the rack; but he's going to need to stop and pop in the future. ((BTW how the heck can he not shoot FT's???)
To prove me wrong he will have to come back next year with the 'ball on a string'. Cause he was so far from having the necessary handles on the ball with his left hand especially, (and comfortably viewing the court while dribbling) that developing it in ONE off-season will demonstrate he has what it takes from a professional standpoint.

I think Burke will be better than Bledsoe long-term mostly because of his offense. Bledsoe is probably better right now due to experience, but I think Burke will be the better pro. Bledsoe is easily better defensively, but questions on running an offense and shooting.

I fail to see how this is a red flag. We ask players to go back to school to continue honing their skills and when they do dominate its a red flag that it took him this long to "dominate"? (Not that I agree).

His "dominance" has always been about his defense. Knowing he can be a non-liability of offense was enough to propel him to a lottery pick

To be fair to 78, if you do the research over the last couple of years guys who make large gains between their Sophomore and Junior seasons in college rarely live up to expectations in the NBA.
