I like Flygirls too. And yeah, I mean, I get that losing the name is a big deal to you, but the team is still here. The spirit is still here. I've never been more excited. LETS GO ZOMBIE HORNETS!
another distant fan here. growing up, Hornets basketball was all I knew, and I initially felt terrible about the name change but over time I also fell in love with New Orleans Basketball more than the name. I'd probably keep tabs on Charlotte if they take the name back, but I know nothing about that teams players, transactions, style of play, etc. It'd be like starting from scratch and no one likes that. I would admit that a "Kidd-Gilchrist" jersey with old Hornets pinstripes is something I may fancy however. But from here on out, it's Pelicans til forever. It's like when your girlfriend gets a way-too short haircut for the first time. Skeptical at first, but realize it ain't so bad. and then ya hardly notice the change. GEAUX NOLA
I think this might be my favorite response ever:

I'm heartbroken that next season there will be no Hornets, but I will follow the Pelicans.

Bye Muggsy. The franchise will miss the yearly $30 you spend on merchandise and also the word of mouth love you give your international friends who have no idea the Hornets were a basketball team.

Yea. I remember when I got drunk the first time.![]()
Wish every fan would have stayed aboard, but hey I'm sure we'll gain a couple too.
Wonder if any Raptors dropped the team when they stopped wearing purple and went straight to black? I'm sure some people became Raptors fans due to the jerseys.
@DanielVeuleman
I get if u guys wanna say you were a fan of the Charlotte hornets team and followed them here to new Orleans. Now the name has changed and your disappointed. But to say you only followed the colors and the pin stripes and Hugo is just ridiculous to me. That 100% shows you were not a sure fire fan of the team itself. You were a fan of the brand not the team so adios amigos. Cause if u were a fan of the team then you would remain a fan of the same exact team that will be in place next year just different name. You guys are brand fans not team fans. Plain and simple. We won't miss u!!! Bye bye now.
An international fan here that fell in love with the City the more I researched about its culture and history. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something by not going there but my allegiance lies with the city - not the mascot or the team name. They could call it New Orleans ****heads and I'll still support the team (even with the numerous insults I'll probably get from friends). Will REALLY visit New Orleans when I get the chance.
I do get where you're coming from though so no ill feelings here. Adios! Paalam! Goodbye! Bon Voyage!
Basketball fans love pick and rolls, they love hard fouls, they love help defense, they love bench scoring, they love moving without the basketball. Fans of the game watch because it is strategic, because it is graceful, because we can sit home and evaluate a 12 man roster as it develops (or doesn't) into a team over a span of 82 games.
