I've said it multiple times, and I'll say it again.

If we're serious about moving forward with a Rivers-Gordon-Anderson-Davis core, Porter is, by far, the best fit.

Of course, it would be hard to pass up a Nerlens Noel or Ben McLemore if the opportunity presented itself.

But I would be extremely pleased to walk out the draft with Otto on the team.

"I'm not going to allow my putative owner to answer that question, this is an NBA related press conference. Paul Tagliabue and Roger Goodell have collectively sung their praises of Tom and if uh ESPN has a problem with that tell Mr. Skipper to call me at my office."

Agreed, porter truely is a do it all guy and did it while the other team game planned for him, perfect fit for the team, or basially any team, i see so much granger in him

crappy part is i see the first 4 picks going noel mclemore smart porter leaving us with burke or bazz, still i'd be happy with either, just really wanted porter or smart.

Yeah, the only player I think could interfere with that four-player combination is Oladipo at this point.

Trey Burke is my final answer. Everyone else available is just an also ran.

I really do, I feel that he's a perfect Monty/Dell type player and remember they went to more than one Indiana game. I don't think they were checking out just Zeller. Hey I could be wrong.

But I think their board is

    Noel
    McLemore
    Smart
    Porter
    Oladipo
    Burke

I would put Smart over Noel but thats just me. I don't see them taking Noel if we just so happened to win the lotto again.

My list today (always subject to change):

Marcus Smart: good leader, has all the tools, like his strength
Ben McLemore: put McLemore #1 if Gordon is traded, I think he and Noel have the most potential in the draft
Nerlens Noel: great prospect, just not for this team, but it would be tough to pass him up if he is there

Otto Porter: would be a solid all around contributor in the position of most need for the team. I'd be thrilled to have him.

Victor Oladipo: great athlete that would give us good defense and rebounding
Trey Burke: I'm a little concerned about his size, but he was the best player in college this year and he sure put on a show in the tourney

drop off to next set of guys

Shabazz: good scorer, but he seems one dimensional and I'm not sure about his attitude
Anthony Bennett: like his strength, but he isn't a good fit for a team already stacked at PF
Alex Len: I think he would be a solid contributor, but I don't like him nearly as much as the guys in the top group.

Gumbo I like most of it, but your Smart and Oladipo takes are a little incomplete. Smart is strong and a good kid, but his shooting %s (tools) are severely inconsistant, and conversely Oladipo's are some of the best of the entire group. He's not just all defense and length.

Great list, only 2 things, i think oladipo will score a little better than people think, and i think shabazz's game is taylor made for the NBA, i dont think he has an attitude just a competitor and wants to win like Kobe.

Yeah, I know Smart needs some work on his shooting, but I have always heard that is one of the easiest things to improve. When I said he had the tools I meant the physical and mental tools in place so that he can hopefully improve the parts of his game that aren't there yet. I'll be honest, it would feel kind of underwhelming to take him with the first pick since he isn't quite there yet. I just think he is the best combo of potential and fit.

It is the easiest problem to fix, and also Smart's form on his jumper is perfect, it just hasnt been dropping, but go look at people like otto porter and trey burke their first year then sophmore year, smart will be fine and prob be the best player out of this draft.

At first when I read about Shabazz I thought the same thing, and players certainly need a bit of killer instinct in them to succeed in a competitive environment like the NBA (you want someone who wants the ball). For some reason the whole revelation about his age just kind of soured me on him. I hear his Dad is kind of a head case and I guess I took the age thing as him trying to trick teams as a signal of poor character, so it lowered my opinion of him a bit. Maybe I'm overreacting or reading the situation wrong, but it was just enough of a concern for me to drop him a little.

Ya the age thing doesnt scare me off, his dad prob made him do it because he wants his son to get drafted lower and get paid, bazz is a kid and he isnt the first person to lie about something stupid, it doesnt both me at all really.

im high on bazz, thats why say we land the 5th pick and noel mclemore smart and porter are gone id rather trade down and take bazz.

Speaking of Bazz and liars from Vegas, does anyone remember this story?

    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/colum...ene&id=3236039

Thankfully it had a happy-ish ending.

You might be right that it isn't a big deal, but it put an asterisk on him in my mind, especially with some prior questions about his personality. Maybe I'm a little gun shy since the Hornets already have some occasional attitude issues w/ one of their best players.

Situation will be a lot clearer once they have the lotto drawing. Then we will know if the choice will be in the Noel, McLemore, Smart, Porter range, or the Oladipo, Burke, Bennett, Bazz range.

I keep forgetting Smart is a freshman. I'll be ok with him at 1-3 if we get it.

The Pelicans are set for defense, which I love. That's why I'd like instant offense like this guy. You need a guard who teams are scared to let shoot.

    high release
finishes and dribbles well with left and right
    money from deep
